The community Discord also got nuked because of some unrelated drama and when the new one has a fraction of the members the old one used to. There’s been no major mods released in months, there was a 1972 DNC mod that dropped earlier this month but it sucked and the community hated it because it used AI (a lot of mods have been using AI for their writing recently like American Century). Mango (TNO dev) has more or less abandoned the game in favor of Yippie development, and of course other developers like the Hope team have been blacklisted or driven out because the modding scene is generally pretty toxic environment and cliquey.

it was always a trash "game" that reached its peak being used in a slavic art project. thinking this was a perennial format for althistory / political storytelling was ridiculous and i doubt anyone really thought that. dying now would be natural.
I don't think it's dying but it's true that it's at a low point. The banning of Razistorija probably pushed away people from exploring their stories in a similar way.

I’m not a fan of the Asia mods they try too hard to be their American counterparts (Y of Korea is just American Carnage/every other CYOA incumbency mod, granted it’s better than Infinite Carnage ig and the ROC ones are just stealing every asset available from StrawberryMaster’s work) what made stuff like the Dutch and German mods good was they were their own unique thing that better represented their countries’ political systems
