I dont think it makes much of a difference. At least not enough to go rape remnant with carriers like in normal mode (a ridiculously effective hard counter) since you need legions/moras/condors, the recovery is capped at 20 (small skirmish numbers) and lowtech will be expensive AF in extended mode. I managed to build a fully dedicated missile fleet capable of taking on single ordos and even the remnant bounty with relative ease but Im not even sure if that one can do it in a feasible profitable way in the upcoming extended mode, let alone using fighter spam.
First anon to do a good anti ordo fleet for the upcoming extended mode using only core tech gains a cookie (assuming it can profit from the loot that is).

the actual problem is that fighters evaporate on contact with anti-ship weaponry, never mind anti-fighter

supposedly they're getting some major durability buffs with the 2028 update but i'm still sceptical

He better now, I've 'rebalanced' for the next update and one of the big changes was removing the faction specific weapons from general sale/military markets so the only way to source them is through combat salvage, arms dealers or raiding blueprints.

It removes clutter and makes them feel like more rewarding...
