so here's my muscovy, currently
doing better this run than in the last
i only went to war once, the one vladimir called me into
i captured all of "principality of tarusa", but the peacedeal did not let me keep the southernmost bit, which you see just south of muscovy
i also captured some of murom, which was vladimir's war target, but i was only allowed to keep a single 'location' of it, that yellow thing east of muscovy
before that, i peacefully vassalized both dmitrov and tver+zubtsov+kashin
currently integrating them both
note that the green chunk of land i currently envelope is an exclave of velikiy novgorod, which exists since start of game
i don't have many options right now... the tatar yoke still exists and the only casus belli i have is against velikiy novgorod
i am new to the understanding of things, but with that said, i have noticed that this new union i am in, the "muscovite-nizhny novgorodian union", is how i was summoned to help in that war against murom in the first place
with that in mind, i am led to believe that i can bring everyone in this union against velikiy novgorod in a war... through the same means
well, everyone except for the other union members' vassals, who are... numerous, including yuriev-polsky, suzdal, 'eastern' murom, uglich and galich-mersky
maybe their own allies can't join either
but i'm not worried, this 4-country union is plenty strong to take on v-nov, so long as my ally smolensk helps ward off karachev in the south
my allies are smolensk (who has a vassal just west of muscovy, vyazma) and yaroslav (who is currently in an allied defensive war with v-nov, pskov being the ally he is backing... pskov used to be a vassal of v-nov and is located close to the baltic sea)
v-nov's allies: karachev, vyatka
everyone has military access to v-nov
game says i'm currently "slightly weaker" than v-nov
i think we can spell out its doom right now

there used to be but the dev started injecting malicious code that might mess with your pc when you play with a genocide submod
i think they worked around that, but do you really want to take that gamble?

a strange thing i've noticed with this game
using the road-builder to make a route through multiple 'locations', the game leads me to choose something inefficient
i've done all the math, and the route that builds the road through obolensk is cheaper than the route that leads through serpukhov
but when i actually lay the entire route from borovsk to volkona, the game chooses the serpukhov route
this makes the road builder unreliable, wouldn't you say?
inconvenient
i have to math everything!

You can set the road builder to prioritise between speed, proximity reduction, or cost it's the little buttons on top of the list of roads. You have it set to proximity reduction atm I think

Just to clarify I'm referring to the 4 icons beneath "Gravel Road, Paved Road, etc."

two of my would-be colleagues are at war
this thing with smolensk,
and the fiefdom of vladimir known as (eastern) murom having a go at... some country... named 'jochi'? it includes the golden horde
confusing, because one of the other opponents they're at war with isn't even within my exploration-knowledge, so it's beyond the fog of war
and they don't even have the military access to any of their enemies, unless they somehow buy it from the kath horde who... hate them!
should i even raise my levies? smolensk is slightly weaker than me, and the game says chernihiv is "no match" for me, so smolensk really doesn't need me
that little child doesn't even own a fort

do keep in mind the road builder bugs out sometimes and builds roads between 2 neighbouring provinces through a third which makes no sense in any way whatsoever

on another note bro you need to use every parliament to get cbs and vassilize your neighbours, you spent 30 years doing basically nothing when all your neighbours are weak as shit

you're right
on my first muscovy run, i went to war asap and then suffered severe economic collapse for it because i didn't know that i had to make subjects out of the land i took
and then on this run, i decided to just wait and spend money building things up
i suppose that the optimal way to play is... to go to war through the parliament/duma cb while also building building my roads and buildings up and juggling integration, eh?
also note: a stroke of bad luck, my first ruler's adult heir died a few years into the game, leaving me with an infant and a thot-regent as soon a year later when my first ruler died

I had fun when I last played it in May. I've only bought the DLC's I felt like I'd enjoy and I think the economy building and stuff is solid.
The expanding/military is still kind of wack though.
