>>24734131. Paradox didn't make or develop East vs. West2. Their "community: (hrk tfu) is full of insufferable faggots having autistic fits over Byzantine Empire and Balkans, and THEIR own personal alt-history scenarios.
>>2473413Isn't that a mod of hearts of iron 3?
>>2473420essentially yes but it was supposed to have a lot more going onof course it doesn't exist beyond a reskin of hoi3
>>2473413It doesn't take "balls". It's just a time period, which requires the mechanics of the game to organically simulate real history, instead of relying on scripted events. And Paradox realized they simply aren't able to do that with the HoI 3 engine.
>>2473413The bigger problem with a cold war game is that it's either just an extension of Hearts of Iron if you go to war quickly or it's multiple decades of nothing ever happens with the occasional insurgency that aren't ever really fun or engaging to play in Paradox's games
How would you handle a post-cold war GSG with drones and precision artillery?
>>2473413Because it was technically a spinoff game developed by BLogic, additionally the community was much smaller and more niche so bad press was less likely.
>>2473413Already notice a massive flaw since Failestine did not exist in 1948.
>>2473413I think the official reason at the time was that a lot of the people who survived the war crimes of the time period are still alive and would get upset at seeing their tragedy game-ified. But that hasn't stopped Paradox from incorporating the Bengal Famine and The Great Purge into HOI4 at a time when there were some survivors from both still alive, so some atrocities are worth more than others. It also has to do with which atrocities are better known in the west, hence the Holocaust being completely absent from the game despite other genocides making it in, leading to the old joke among wehraboos about HOI4's portrayal of WWII being the most accurate because the Holocaust doesn't happen in it.For what it's worth, the best bits from EvW such as the naval designer and world tension system, as well as half of its soundtrack, ended up making it into HOI4, but funnily enough this is also the first HOI game without an Operation Unthinkable bookmark. As I mentioned in the thread from where you likely got the inspiration to make this thread, things in the world have changed too much since the days of EvW's development to where making a proper Cold War era game that isn't just the US and USSR trolling each other is impossible for publicly traded companies.>>2473768>it's either just an extension of Hearts of Iron if you go to war quicklyThe vision was that EvW would have been HOI's battle system but with Vic2's economy, which would have given the player something to do during nothing ever happens time like it does in Vic2. You as the player would have also been planting insurgencies all the time, there's a lot you could do with a Cold War game>>2474108It would be like gas attack in Vic2 where you're basically fucked if your opponent has it researched until you have it too. Maybe even have a drone team as one of the possible support units in the division designer.
>>2473413Also, there was basically no timeline in which this game would have been a success if you played the build that got leaked after the game was cancelled. Even for the standards of the time where Paradox would release completely broken shit and the fanbase was expected to buy it and then wait a year for patches to make the game playable, this game was too much for even that. You've probably seen videos on YouTube of people playing this build, but fuel completely didn't work and the game would crash all the time for example.
>>2474115That's the 1948 war, dumbass.
>>2474148Which was Israel vs Syria, Jordan, and Egypt since Failesteen did not exist as a country.
>>2474139People complain about modern Paradox games but pre CK2 they were literally broken and unplayable until the 2nd expansion. Nowadays you still have to wait for it to cook but at least it gets patched to a playable state within the first few months.
>>2474108Depending on when you set it it isn't really much of a problem.
>>2474162>People complain about modern Paradox games but pre CK2 they were literally broken and unplayable until the 2nd expansionThis is not true.>t. played the early EUs and HOIs
>>2473413After playing modern day mods for HOI4 and Vic3 both and also early game Terra Invicta, I conclude there is no way to make a fun post-1945 GSG that ALSO has the correct dev cycle lifespan for their DLC business model.
>>2473418The devs are basically the same as the community about byz and and alt hist in general
>>2473413>hearts of iron 3 coreIt would have been shit
