Why is this game considered both the worst and simultaneously most complicated game paradox put out? Im playing it and it is genuinely fantastic. The "dreaded" order of battle system is awesome if you spend 3 minutes to understand basic military structure and rewards deep autism. The only things I miss from HoI4 are the industry system cause I personally liked the whole idea of having to actually manufacture equipment.
>>
Fun for a game or two, but it becomes very repetitive. I also dislike how the Chink-Jap war simply doesn't exist, Japan just conquers China and Japan annexes the entire coast by 1939
>>
Is there a mod that adds in super events?
>>
>>2477401
Tards hate it becasue they are tards. They just want a big "I WIN AGAIN" button. Scholarly gentlemen of patrician tastes enjoy the game.
>>2477432
Tard, please, you simply lack imagination and brains. You can play Hoi3 in many different ways with each game being quite different from the other. Maybe if your grandfather stopped fucking your ass your brains would stop spilling out. Probably too late though.
>>
>>2477401
>most complicated
It's easy to think that this game was not all that complicated now that HOI4 does such a better job of introducing the player to HOI3's mechanics (HOI3 basically has the same systems but everything is streamlined poorly). Back then, your choices were to either figure out OOB and whatnot in HOI3 or play Darkest Hour, so most people played Darkest Hour.

>worst
I can't really speak for if this game was considered the worst since I was one of the people who got scared off by the OOB system. The impression I got from the community is that Sengoku is the actual worst game because all anyone ever says about it is that it's a tech demo. People also like shitting on March of the Eagles as a funny maymay, but I feel like that's just the nu paradox fandom hating on something they haven't even tried playing.
>>
>>2477572
>I was one of the people who got scared off by the OOB system
Ah yes, here we have a prime example of the subhuman. Drooling incompetent idiot who finds even the most logical structures to be mind baffling. A very good reason to be pro abortion.

I like how it was just impossible to conquer a big nation without enough divisions. You would not be able to beat the Sovet Union with just a cavalry division like these strangee meme strats in HoI4. That alone puts it in another realm than it's successor for me.

Also this "click click click click" pinning down autism doesn't exist in HoI3. The organization of your Divisions will drain so quickly, if you try to play it that way. "Snaking" also is not wise. You need to actually have motorised fast units. Snaking with Infantry is just not that useful. The AI can deal with that.

I really wish there was some way to make HoI4 like HoI3. I like that there is more depth in terms of production and so on. But it's so extremely arcadey. In HOI3 you just wouldn't be able to even enter certain tiles with the lowest infrastructure. And even if you can enter tiles with low infrastructure, it's really not a good idea. Moving takes ages and you have such a huge supply malus. But in HoI4, at leas when it came out, you could just move quickly through the desert in Africa with no problem, except having a debuff.

>people complain how hoi4 can't properly portray stuff like guerilla warfare or a cold war scenario
>some reason nobody has tried making these kinds of mods in hoi3 even though it has more in depth mechanics
>>
>>2478005
None who praises hoi3 actually plays it. Ask them to post their hours in it and they will stop responding.
>>
>>2478011
Spoken like the truly stupid asswipe you are!

Because it unironically filters people.

I pirated it since giving Paradox money should be a crime

Everyone shits on its diplomacy but I always liked the cuck triangle.
>>
>>2477705
>at leas when it came out
Have you played since the supply update? That garbage got a lot better since they introduced rails and supply hubs
>>
>>2477401
Wait. People complain about the OOB system? That was easily one of its best parts and a big part of what makes me come back to it every year or two for a campaign.
>>
>so complicated omg
>OOB is so weird you guys
literally no? as in, not even a little bit? I have 1000+ hours in hoi3 and I genuinely feel like I've missed something when people say shit like this. Sure, it requires more attention and micromanaging than a 3-year old would be capable of (like hoi4), but that's why I play gsg anyway...
>>
>>2481055
Its only the fucktards complaining because God gave them another anus instead of a brain. Anyone else has no complaint.
>>
>>2481388
hoi 3 is a game which suffers far more from its reputation than the reality
you can even automate basically everything, including troop movements, and, while it wont be optimal, it will be good enough (unlike hoi4 which outright punishes you if you don't automate things)
i think retards are simply overwhelmed when their screen presents them with more than 3 pieces of information
it's why modern windows settings has menus in menus in menus each with 3-4 buttons and every website and game looks like it was made for a mobile device
>>
I skipped 3 back in the day (played 1 then 2 then 4) and literally the only thing I know about 3 is hearing people complaining about the OOB system.
>>
>>2481832
Why do they complain? It's incredibly simple.
My only complaint, which is tangential, is that the max level of leaders is obfuscated.
>>
>>2477432
This is limited to your imagination.

Read in a couple threads ago of an anon who played rogue Australia declaring war against everyone, and holding out as long as he could in a hopeless war. Good idea. I was intrigued, and the idea stuck with me. But there’s one problem, it’s not actually fun unless you have some resources to play with. So I edited some province files to give Australia 100 IC, the corresponding resources to support it, and enough leadership to keep pace in the technology race. Oh, and I copy and pasted 300 British leader portraits and gave them Australian IDs and names. Took a few hours. Anyways the first move after rearming was managing to declare war on New Zealand one week before they joined the Allies, so I was able to conquer them without going to war with the big boys yet. Next target is the Dutch East Indies, which will give me enough resources to become an autarky and hold off against the British, French, Japanese, Americans, and maybe even eventually the Soviets it’s all at once.
>>
>>2481833
I also edited the leader files so all leaders can reach Skill level 9. I mean, why not make it more rpg-like?
>>
I disliked the naval war in hoi3.
Basically you build carriers, light cruisers and extra CAGs to win. BB's BCs, HCs, and DDs, are just a waste of IC.
The AI will waste its CAGs while the player builds enough to constantly rotate them in and out of carriers. A couple of engagements and its over for the AI fleets, which will hopelessly ping pong around between a few sea provinces as you grind them down to nothing.
Once the enemy has no carriers you have complete control of the sea and can do whatever the fuck you like.
I once concentrated all the Brit carriers in Hong Kong, along with extra CAGS, guaranteed Shanxi, and the moment Japan invaded in July 1937 I set out and wiped their fleets. Then I landed a few corps on mainland Japan and annexed Japan before they could beat Shanxi.
Even Russia can build up a carrier navy, do the same sort of shit, and invade the USA.
Its fun, but it is also very fucking stupid.
>>
>>2482262
I like that there are max levels because it makes historical cool leaders important and i'd argue that is pretty rpg like - not all characters have equal potential
leaders are also a valuable resource some nations struggle with immensely
i do wish you could create new poor ones with a max level of 3 or so because minors really can be bereft of them
the max level just shouldn't be hidden until you hit it
>>
>>2482324
that's historically accurate though
bbs, bcs, and ca are not outright useless but in blue water they do lose to cv dd, as they should, unless there are significant technology differences

the sea war is very different in the med though because of land based air, which shits on cags, making bbs etc much more useful as floating tanks with aa guns and artillery
nav + int will force anything to run away and even cas makes decent nav in a pinch but a beefy fleet can tank and cover for transports long enough to do what they need to particularly with ftr or int support
cags similarly can support land operations and eventually better than shore bombardment but, again, that's realistic

that said, bb and bc are, imo, never worth investing in but ca can be
ss is its own niche and it works although nav can also raid

it's leagues better than dh or hoi4
>>
>>2482331
>dh
I do play a lot more DH,but yeah the battleship carriers are fucking retarded. AA does nothing against carriers and it doesn't help that BB's and carriers in DH have the same penalties for bad weather.
>>
>>2477432
That's good. AI Japan can't handle being bogged down in China and fight the in the Pacific against the US at the same time so it'll be more enjoyable for both the Chinese and USA player if Japan was an all-conquering force for them to face.
>>
Hoi3 comes down to this. Annex USA. Win.
Can't annex USA? No lollipop for you son.
>>
>>2482328
>the max level just shouldn't be hidden until you hit it
You'll never be better than you are today. If you are lucky, by superhuman effort, you can avoid slipping backwards for a while. But sooner or later, you're going to lose a step, or drop a beat, or miss a detail -- and you'll be gone forever.

All Paracucks had to do was HoI 3.5.

anytime someone says they want X convoluted mechanic what they really mean is that it sounds fun in their head and then when they actually get a game with their tedium simulator they get bored and go back to autistic daydreaming about some other tedious mechanic

My only issue is that it crashes when I use the WW1 mod. Also my allies keep giving me units I dont want and it makes a mess of my structure

Well I guess this is realistic
>>

>Why is this game considered both the worst and simultaneously most complicated game paradox put out
because zoomzooms just repeat whatever their favorite twitch troon has to say

HoI3 is incredibly easy
you literally can load up the 1940s start date, tell your OB West to "take paris, rotterdam and brussels" and it Blitzkrieg through the ardennes
meanwhile in GoI4 you have to manually micro because the front line system only allows for WW1-tier-warfare (also you have to stop the game every 10 seconds to take care of some bullshit sidequest like MIOs or some 7 day focus)
>>
>>2484615
you can (and kinda have) to manage your units in HoI4 as well
but in HoI4 you have all this pointless bullshit that gets in the way, dropped the game after they added MIOs

in HoI3, even if you have no clue what's going on, you can start the game and figure out things along the way (also if you just want to larp as a commander you can let the AI take care of trades, research, etc)

meanwhile in modern day HoI4 you first have to read 20 pages of text to figure out what's going on (endless focus-tress that will lock you out of a historical game if played wrong, MIO resarch-trees, bullshit-mini-games like with Ethopia and the Italian council) and you can't automoate research either
>>
>>2477438
TNO and its consequences have been a disaster for the fandom
>>
>>2477401
>Why is this game considered both the worst and simultaneously most complicated game paradox put out?
Right now at least 50% of the population couldn't pass a simple intelligence test even if their life depended upon it. Hoi3 is like an intelligence test.

However disenfranchising 50% of your customer base is not good for business, so that's why we got hoi4 instead of hoi3.5
>>2484250
exactly.
>>
>>2487353
>Be me
>Play as Hungary
>Built 2 mixed light armour/cavalry divisions
>Sort out my OOB
>Tell my army to capture Belgrade on "Blitzkrieg" stance
>I conquer all of Yugoslavia singlehandedly in like 2 months
>Do the same thing to Greece, Bulgaria & Romania by 1941 without ever building a significantly larger army, zero navy and only the starting air divisions
>by 1941 I have annexed all of the Balkans and have an insane IC score for a Hungary playthrough by HOI2 standards

The only thing that's "difficult" (more like annoying) is the research panel. Having the queue is a good idea but there are so many techs to research that you constantly have to check if youve missed any important techs, or if you still have techs in your queue that are way beyond the current year debuff

awesome game which i had a much easier time than hoi4 learning
i actually still can't play well at hoi4, i don't care for the regiment system, but this game right here is comfy and also unironically has a better-looking map than hoi4
my only complaint about it is that during my last run as hungary, i was allied to germany and was forced to give up czechian land that i had captured because germany's casus belli was very inflexible and wouldn't give me what was according to what i had captured
i very much prefer this over hoi4's ugly 3D models moving around
i really wish there was a more refined/remastered version of this with more flexible casus belli, peace deals, and modding community
>>

Its that easy because you are playing on normal difficulty and without any house rules.
That's casual faggot tier. For learners. For dirty disgusting little Noobs. People who want to lose their anal virginity to some black pimp in a squalid back street play on normal difficulty.
Listen, do you want testicles? Big bouncing platinum plated testicles busting full of superhuman spermies? Do you want to pump hoes full of your precious bodily fluids while they squeal in ecstasy? Yes? Of course! Okay but then you have to earn your stripes. Now go and load up Japan on very hard difficulty. Start the 1944 scenario. Assign AI control to everything. Now dont do anything except watch for 3 whole months. No matter what batshit stupid things your AI does.
After that time is up you can take full manual control. Your mission now is to win.
That should make a man out of you.
Otherwise, if you should fail, then the dockyards might be a good place to begin your next career as a rent boy.
>i was allied to germany
Ah you see? That was your mistake. You allied up. Listen chum, only the most degenerate perverts form alliances, you hear? The sort of lowlife scum who only wear raincoats over their disgusting naked bodies and hang around gay bars at night. Good thing I caught you before you made the same mistake again. You might have some chance at redemption, and even of earning the right to slap your sweaty swollen balls across the face of some big titty bimbo. Now listen closely, you never join an alliance, you never join a faction, you never puppet another nation. You annex them all. You fuck them up the ass, no lube, no reach around, and then you annex them. That is what a man does.
