Shogun 2 but without an army weebs to jerk it off and a slightly more interesting map.
My least played TW and should have just been a DLC of Attila.
This game did so bad they retconed Fall of the Samurai into being a Saga game and it still sucked. Hot take they should have kept TW Arena up because at least that game was nonsense and fun.
>>2483115This. The Saga games should've been mini-campaign DLCs, like the MTW2 ones.
>>2483136Not sure why one would effect the other. This seems like 2 unrelated events.>>2483115This would've been redundant since they already had the Charlemagne DLC. Although the optimisations of Thrones would've been nice. Having recently played it:+This shouldn't be an achievement but CA sucks at siege battles. in Britannia they work, there's no bugs or retarded glitches. The town design is a lot better too. I never dreaded having to fight one unlike in other TW games.+The settlement and recruitment mechanics were a nice change of pace. Let's you be a lot more aggressive. -Sea battles are bad, compounded by the fact you can't build ships so you're fucked if you're a non-viking fighting vikings on sea.*The politics system is not unbearable. Wish they fixed or threw it away though for good.*The travel times are bizarre, it really needed the force march stance because it doesn't even let you do a Harold Godwinson if you wanted to.-Samey units which isn't a complaint unique to this TW. There were some good ideas here that unfortunately got buried by bad press.
>>2483136man, arena was fun. we need a napoleonic one
>>2483097It was a better Knights of Honor game. And no one plays Knights of Honor 2 despite it being excellent. I fucking hate this fanbase so much sometimes. They bitch about Troy and ToB so much yet continually play HoI 4 CK 3 or other Paradox slop while the art/ui is superior at every level on the other games in the genre.Knights of Honor was the faster Total War alternative game for so long and the player base refuses to acknowledge the shelf space Saga titles were trying to fill. The only major flaw from Attila was the shallowness of war weariness mechanic. HoI 4 war support/casualty and Bannerlord morale bar are both better mechanics. It is old as fuck watching a every garrison unit fight to the last man, every single time, despite knowing they will lose the war, despite fighting in useless territory. That is Total War Legendary experience, so it basically becomes an in depth tower defense game. The next Total War has to have stacks that react to losses, AI that doesn't spam but reacts. Those games are over 10 years old just be glad they got made and stop having first world problems. FFS.You trolled me hard today so I will leave you a screenshot on how to get a 2nd Warlord's Keep in Attila. Horde out of or retake the natural capital after already building in Carthagensis. You can then have a 2nd by turn 300 or so. Works good on Celt factions too.
>>2483115It basically is full price Attila dlc.The ONLY reason why it was made is because there was a Viking television show on at the time that "inspired" it. Just CA trying to capitalize on an already dying cultural fad.
>>2483097Someone lied to me that this was like Shogun 2, but it wasn't. Total War never recovered from the changes to battle gameplay introduced in Rome 2, and ToB sits firmly in that soiled sand-pit.
>>2483097The fact you can't have armies without a general in them makes it a real shitter. Why the fuck do I need a hero to transfer units from a city to another city, can none of those harebrained dumbass read a map?Alot of stuff in it is broken anyway.Mide is supposed to have a way to do a 'peaceful' irish unification, but you burn so much legitimacy while being at war that you'll never get the 600 legitimacy points to actually do it unless you minmax specifically for it (and also *not* use your faction's unique feature, since it burns Legitimacy; turns out nobles think that you hosting fairs makes you an unfair ruler unworthy of being the King of Ireland, who knew?)The combat is atleast fun, im a sucker for this High Medieval 'leather and buckler' experience.
>>2483097Except it's also a rome 2 mod and has the same terrible gameplay and campaign.
>>2483560>The fact you can't have armies without a general in them makes it a real shitter. Why the fuck do I need a hero to transfer units from a city to another city, can none of those harebrained dumbass read a map? This is the biggest reason why I hate nu-TW games. In Rome 1/Medieval 2, if you fought a battle and won decisively with an army commanded by a random grunt captain, you could elevate him to command armies permanently, he'd gain stats and experience, you could adopt him to your family, just a little rags to riches story which gave me more RP and immersion than whatever shitty "+5 to your generals melee attack" rpg upgrade mechanic exists in modern games
>>2483097Its good, probobly their most historically accurate game. Especially with the historical reskin modhttps://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2825853921
>>2483097underratedwas legitimately bad at release I'm sure but I only played it much later. Best battle music and siege maps in the entire series
>>2483555This
>>2483097jack justed game
the map was pretty
>>2483555I think i know what post ur talking about but im pretty sure it was about Pharoah: dynasties feeling like shogun.
>>2483097>Implying Breitannia is anywhere a level of a functional game, not to mention S2>>2483508>Knights of Honor 2 despite it being excellent
>>2483097LolLmao evenToB is easily the most boring, uninspired and simply tedious TW to date. They've managed to out-do the Charlemagne DLC for Attila, which is a serious achievement.
