>Kingdom Underfire never ever againWhy doesn't anybody make spiritual successor? Nobody did this mix of strategy and action in this way again and I'm tired of replaying Heroes.
>>2491901all I want is sassy dark elf bitches.Although the basic concept of having a total war style battle but you can also control your heroes directly in combat could be greatly improved on. It's fundamentally fun but pretty limited in KuF
>>2492010Other than the usual bug fixes and balancing to make useless units better I do wish they expanded the strategy side of it.Maybe before the battle starts you could place units on certain maps just like in total war depending on how you want to approach the battle. Personally would love to see sieges too, like getting the opportunity to rush up a ladder and fight on top of the wall would be cool. Maybe make it even more "open world" just so the player really feels like a general moving his units about. Also for having a game called "The Crusaders" there was not one crusader state equivalent like a human kingdom in Vellond who could have their own unique hybrid roster of human core forces and then local dark elven auxiliaries with perhaps like some dark elf Varangian guard for the human king.
>>2492010>all I want is sassy dark elf bitches.slutty dark elf asscheeks are the reason anybody even talks about this game for the most part
>>2492079I resent that implication, it's only a nice bonus. Besides they are by far the most common units in the game you fight: Humans vs Dark Elves, Orcs vs Dark Elves, Elves vs Dark Elves, Dark Elves vs Dark Elves. There's seemingly an infinite supply of dark elf warrior chicks so you will be staring at their ass or tits at one point.
If they replaced all the dark elf girls with dark elf dudes, you wouldn't give a shit.
>>2491901Funnily enough, it's the only strategy game I can think of where the position of the Sun matters.
>>2492643Yes I would. In fact I bet that if you did that (and made the appropriate changes setting-wise) it would be more well known because it would be more marketable to a wider audience, people like you wouldn't complain about naked elf ass, and goyhammer nerds would be able to squint and pretend they're playing gw title.
I tried kingdom under fire a war of heroes and it's shit. Reminds me of a bad budget version of Warcraft or Warlords Battlecry. It feels really unresponsive and generic as hell too. Crusaders and Heroes were flukes by the developers because they've otherwise released mediocre shit and even then they're filled with bugs and glitches and Heroes insane difficulty ranges from Hard to Dante Must Die mode. Apparently the next game is meant to be some MMO based on NFT's? What is wrong with south koreans?
What a rollercoaster of a series>started with a traditional RTS>then turned into a squad based mini mosou combo>then became a regular normal ass hack and slash dungeon crawler>then a MMO
>>2494227The little experience I have with Korean studios is that they make either the most monolithic and never-changing things ever, or refuse to ever have two games in a series even in the same genre-group.
>>2493799>What is wrong with south koreans?Making an MMO is just seen as the end-goal for a studio there, I guess? The only studio from SK I know of that hasn't made either an MMO or gacha game at one point is Dandylion, and Troubleshooters has some weird multiplayer integration. The NFT thing is a new development though. Surprises me that Nexon wasn't the first to that, but it also surprises me that NFTs are even being tried at this point. That market has to be microscopic by this point, right?
>>2494268They re-released War of Heroes but replaced the old multiplayer with "Blockchain technology", whatever that means. They seem to be completely out of touch.
>>2491901Thank God, another KUF fan. We are a small tribe. I don't know how we could get more of The Crusaders or Heroes done right, let alone a larger-scale genre. They already fucked up by taking an unnecessary risk and making that goofy ass MMORTS that nobody asked for. For that matter, they have a history of reinventing the wheel: Circle of Doom was a batshit genre shift as well. I want my dark fantasy prog metal game with sexy (and as another anon said, sassy) dark elves/vampires again. It was also nice having a fantasy game that wasn't afraid of having some semi-grounded early gunpowder weapons. Are Koreans just retarded? Do we need another Sejong to make them unretarded again?
>>2494549The only hope is modding which has been moving at a glacial pace. The unofficial community patch promises to make modding easier. Other than that someone has to make a not!kuf copy.
>>2493799>>2494268It was MMOs back then. Nowadays it's gachas.Asians and especially Koreans cannot resist the call of the swarm. Everyone was making F2P MMOs in 2008 so they ruined KuF2 for it. I guess their next game was conceived when NFTs were "the next big thing".
>>2499135>Koreans cannot resist the call of the swarmThat's why they like Starcraft!
>>2499135Can someone but the IP off them? Asians are retarded
>>2500306Do you need the IP though? The setting wasn't really the appeal for me at least, and you can't copyright gameplay systems. The name is very niche as well, so it's not like a different studio would want to pick it up for name recognition if they wanted to throw their hat in the ring of whatever KUF might be classed as.
>>2500592>you can't copyright gameplay systems.except you can, WB patented the nemesis system from shadow of middle earth
>>2500666That's patents, not copyright. Lasts only a fraction of the time (20 years as opposed to basically in perpetuity with copyright at this point) and can only be given to novel ideas. Nothing in Kingdoms Under Fire should reasonably be patentable (but the characters and setting is copyrightable). You can make as many squad-tactics muso hybrids as you want and no-one could stop you, probably. The problem is that what you or I find reasonable and novel and what a patent lawyer with little knowledge of the field finds reasonable and novel are two different things. You also can challenge a patent in several ways and on several grounds if it wasn't reasonable to be given out to begin with, but I don't think you can easily challenge a copyright unless you can prove that someone else ripped off your exact IP, or near enough. If someone with enough conviction and money wanted to they could challenge WB on their patent and maybe win.Twenty years at this point honestly feels stifling, but it's a much lesser clamp down than copyright at this point. Trademarks are pretty chill in the trio and isn't involved in nearly as many dumbshit decisions as the other two.
>>2500592Depends on how much is copied from the gameplay systems I guess. But knock-offs do exist anyway. I can only see it becoming a problem if a game does hit big and the kuf devs want a piece of the pie when it looks like some systems were copied wholesale. As for the aesthetics then they're generic enough that you can't really get into trouble and the only memorable characters I recall is Walter and the dark elves. My biggest worry on that front is that we'll never get delfs like this again; people make female characters intentionally ugly or design baby-face neotene bimbos like it's an anime when kuf ones are obviously meant to be classic white woman supermodels who are shallow and bitchy.
Some years ago some anon on /v/ posted a lot of art of that game, from the art book scans maybe. Skimpy sexy dark elf bitches and that one pale woman as well.
