>be poor underdeveloped country>no one can afford a high end computer>rampant piracy>suddenly a game shows up and it sticks with the collective consciousness long after its relevance has faded in its intended marketWhat caused HOMM3 to be favored in eastern Europe while AOE2 thrived in South America? what if it was the other way around?
>>2514639AoE2 is still widely played in Europe (both east and west) though, more so than HoMM3
>>2514639something something publisher dealsalso all big strategy games were popular back in my cunt. Age II got popular again due to competitive netplay and piss easy installationCS1.6 was by far the bigger game, also San Andreas for some reason.
>>2514639>What caused HOMM3 to be favored in eastern Europe while AOE2 thrived in South America?Assumptions out of your ass caused that (they are very powerful)
>>2514639>What caused HOMM3 to be favored in eastern Europepirated localized versions of the game that run on potato computers. This and it was a 10/10 game with hotseat local multiplayer, I would get together with neighbors and play>AOE2 thrived in South Americano idea but AoE1 was bundled with potato PCs in Vietnam which is why it's still incredibly popular in Vietnam to this day
>>2514710based ass
idk, but they should buff handcannoneers in aoe2.i wish i could buy more pikemen/halberdiers in homm3.
>>2514639PCs were a somewhat poorfag friendly option for gaming. You get one device for computing, education, and pirated music/movies/games. PS2 also doubled as a DVD player which made them a popular pick.2D strategy games weren't the most demanding vidya at the time, could run on semi-shitty specs, and offer a lot of play time, having you spend hours on each scenario. AoE2 and Worms were widely popular, Starcraft took off in Korea especially, Tzar in Spain, AoE1 in Vietnam. Why these in particular? Because of specific circumstances that ultimately happened by random chance. In an alternate universe it's possible that these franchises failed completely and the ones that took off and remained relevant to this day could be for example: Dark Reign, Ground Control, War Wind or Polanie, I guess.
>>2514697>more so than HoMM3Nah, even my 40+ year old aunt played homm3. AoE2 was popular but not nearly as much.
>>2514639>What caused HOMM3 to be favored in eastern EuropeWe have a good taste in games.
>>2515043It is a damn good game. Depending on the map design can be a very casual game or very strategic and difficult.
>>2514639unfortunately it's also why homm3 is unplayable these days. those fucking slavs have been progressively fucking with the backend and now it's just a fucking disaster. i haven't generated a playable map in months. literally no resources in my zone and the next three accessible ones. i've started doing map reveals just to know whether not it's worth it. >congratulations on beating the diamond golems with your gremlins>your reward is fucking nothing at all. april 2023 is when it started. i play impossible with 8xm8 and i used to win 80% of games. now it's about 1 in 20 and for the same reason each time. no fucking resources for three zones over. last update and the whole fucking thing jitters and pauses constantly and the maps are even worse. fuck is wrong with these steppeniggers? i hate slavs so much it's unreal.
>>2514702>also San Andreas for some reason.crime is like real life simulator for easterners.
