The thing is though you have to look at the demographics of these 1 and 2views. They usually have very little life experience and in focus zero experience in the world of work. I've seen stories about predatory managers going around trying to hoover up tiny indies with no intention of actually doing any work, just passively acquiring some of their already meagre income (but when you have enough 1 and 2views you can probably make a decent amount from them combined. And yes in some cases like you said it's just their actual IRL boyfriend/husbands but I think with the majority it's a mixture of the extremely naive young demographic and predatory scumbags trying to take advantage of that.

A lot of them do not understand how much fan dependence early indie vtubers need. You have to pick your first mods from your chat, you have to pick staff from your mods, and you have to pick the most assets from these people. Some vtubers have trusted friends be their managers until they start hitting it big. And during this early phase all these fans work for free. Nowadays it's getting harder and harder to become a vtuber anyways considering how many people are jumping on the bandwagon. Everybody who could make it big already made it and everybody cutting in today doesn't stand a chance.
