If someone did this but with a church you'd call them a Christian

70% of the population is secular so not likely. Japan is also a very advanced country, and that's inversely correlated with the number of religious people.

Post Meiji Restoration Shinto is in such a weird state that the Vatican decided praying at their shrines was a non-religious activity and the Taishō government labeled shrines to be secular celebrations of patriotism.

Yeah and they said Buddhism was forever split from purist practices and not practiced, didn't make it correct

Asians worship money.
There's no questions to be asked here.
>>
>>112280457
Japan's type of religion means you can either define them as all atheists or all religious. It just depends on what you want to define things as. A lot of Holos are definitely more religious than anyone who has ever posted on this board but they probably wouldn't see it that way. They are definitely spiritual which is essentially all folk religion is to begin with.
>>
>>112280457
kyoto is a popular spot for tourism and it's a pretty famous temple
>>
japan is largely secular but they still like to do the shinto stuff for whatever reason, its fun i guess
>>
>>112303753
Japan is the furthest possible thing you can be from secular. What they generally aren't is theistic but even that's mostly based on people assuming the Jewish god is the default definition.
>>
>>112280457
I don't think it means the same thing in other countries. If they're Korean or Filipino then the odds go up that they're part of a church. If somebody visits a Shinto shrine a couple times a year, that's not really "religious."
>>
>>112280558
>If someone did this but with a church you'd call them a Christian
Dunno a friend of mine likes traveling and churches are always on the list when he visits a Town, but then the buildings in Europe are older than anything the USA has standing.
