I find myself constantly surprised by the sheer disconnect of whoever is managing this campaign. It feels as though their fundamental assumptions regarding the target audience and user behavior are simply wrong.
Take their recent initiatives, for example: expecting people to enthusiastically spray-paint Filian is lost in random locations, or assuming fans would be excited to compete for space on a pixel wall that they thought would somehow stay relevant for more than a week. The remaining 'Ultrafans' in the Discord server accurately predicted these failures and called them out in advance.
There is a glaring misunderstanding of who the actual audience is. The campaign seems geared toward fans of Japanese street art and broader anime culture, explicitly ignoring the core demographic of more introverted, dedicated VTuber fans. While I understand the desire to reach a wider audience, the current strategy is only succeeding in alienating the casual fans without bringing in any new ones.
The only people left in the Discord are the overly dedicated superfans who are now seriously questioning why we wasted the last six months on this. Severing the part of myself that genuinely supported Filian is starting to feel like the less painful option, especially compared to enduring fruitless engagement bait every two to four weeks that never actually leads anywhere.
At this point, the best course of action is to just step away and forget about her entirely. It’s incredibly disrespectful to the fans who stayed.
