Elia makes too many commitments and then feels guilty when her body doesn't let her fulfil them. I know she had some ups and downs in her college years, but I think those were mostly psychological and self-inflicted. (Some of her medication might be anti-depressants and I assume she still has a therapist she can talk to about that stuff). The whole running off to Japan thing seems suspicious to me, though, like something about her health suddenly changed and she could no longer bear the psychological pressure of being near her family, or even staying awake at normal hours.My guess is that it's either a type of Long Covid or an injury from the vaccine itself.Doctors are terrible at diagnosing both of those and they're probably not curable so I can only pray that Elia learns to understand her condition and live with it.

It seems like Elia has developed a lot of coping strategies over the years, and it helps that vtuber fans are often attracted to girl failures. It's not an act for her when she's scatterbrained and socially awkward, which helps her audience feel at ease with her.What's new is that she seems trapped in a loop of forcing herself to do more, and assuming she can, but then failing, and feeling guilty, and spending days in bed recovering. That's not just normal depression and self-worth issues, or sleep disruption from badly calibrated ADHD meds, it's more like someone whose body is not functioning normally and Elia doesn't realise that the problem is physical and not mental. I think she used to blame herself for a lot of the problems that were actually due to her anaemia (like fainting?), so this recent pattern of denial has a lot of precedent.
