Two things, actually.1). A use for all the needless fucking junk somehow laying all over the place in post apocalyptic America despite over 200 years passing and someone not picking it up or it not crumbling apart on its own.2). The idea of rebuilding is a really cool concept. No, the game (without mods) doesn't make it particularly rewarding, but you get to pretend that you're actually making a difference out there helping people survive. I dig it on a human level.Also the DLCs were, as always, a mixed bag. Far Harbor was a fantastic one, Nuka World was terrible, and Automatron was okay but more annoying than it was worth. The smaller DLCs like the Vault one aren't really worth mentioning.

>>112805649I would say, at worst, the Fallout 3 DLCs were annoying. Pitt was annoying and the possible resolutions for it irritated me. Pitt is almost as bad as Nuka World for me. Maybe I just hate "raider" culture even though it's a staple of post apocalyptic stories and Fallout especially. I didn't really like Point Lookout and thought the only interesting story was the idea of the "immortals" fighting an endless war for the last one standing. Mothership Zeta was a lark, so that one was good. Operation Anchorage was goodish, even if it meant nothing in the long run. Broken Steel was good and obviously more of a mini sequel, which more DLC need to be. Now that I think about it, Fallout 3 got 5 full sized content DLC. New Vegas got four. 4 only got 3. I guess the smaller DLC were to make up for not having one or two more full sized ones? At least they're getting better with the Creation Content, which might be just Bethesda finally admitting they suck at making their own and just paying others to do it for them.

Sadly, because this shit is 90% done "for fun" that doesn't happen very often. The Creation Club, ironically, might keep some of them together more since they're getting paid for it.Sim Settlements 2 still blows me away with how ambitious it was and how much they pulled off. They completely changed massive aspects of the game, especially the settlement system, AND added a fucking good fully voice acted story to go along with it. AND SIDE QUESTS. It's a massive undertaking and they killed it. And still updating it.What's going to be heartbreaking are the guys trying to do updated (IE Fallout 4 game) versions of Fallout 3 and New Vegas when it is strongly rumored we're going to get remastered versions of them likely within a year or two.
