Can't sustain a vtuber agency anymore"PhaseConnect, Chromashift, Nijisanji>Phase core focus is on variety streaming and personality-driven entertainment>Talks about Phase Academy and how the company understands that narrative-driven content is the way to go and is slowly starting to dip its toe into such areas.>"Phase connect is experimenting with coordinated themes and some light narrative sprinkled in, " while hololive is building a full narrative ecosystem, which is not a criticism because Phase is basically an indie-level company while hololive is multi media corporation. They are playing on different fields">But phase isn't the only one making moves. Chromashift currently looks like an early-stage hololive JP with idol model and variety streaming plus full 3D concert at cons, but they are not yet narrative-driven>Nijisanji EN is still here, and their model is still the same as of 2021.> AnyColor doesn't need to innovate in the West, as they are printing tons of money in the Japanese market.>The NijiEN branch is so minuscule that they only get mentioned if they underperform>NijiEN is just air. Present, stable, Unchanging>Present is not the same as competitiveWestern agencies are still in the twitch era model. Stream a lot, talent personality, Merch sales, repeat.>No other western agency is doing at scale that hololive is doing. A YouTube foundation, a hard push to storytelling, and backed by a company that thinks in multi-media IP, not the total of streaming hours.>They have a custom story world in ENigmatic Recollection, A generational rivalry in Advent Vs Justice, Support via motion comics, a cross-media event, and a fanbase already trained to care about lore.>"Hololive isn't trying to win the streaming wars. They are trying to build an Ecosystem">An ecosystem outlasts streaming metas, platforms, and talents. So is hololive just lucky, or did they invent a new narrative VTubing?>Hololive didn't invent a new streaming format, and anyone can follow a trend.>Hololive didn't cause the platform shift; Twitch did that to itself.>Years of DMCA troubles, stupid policies, and a discoverability problem that never gets fixed>Hololive didn't cause the audience shift>Nobody has time for 6 hours parasocial marathon anymore.>The majority of the audience browses for the topic, not the creator. But once they find someone they like, they prefer structure and hololive provides that structure where thing perfectly aligns.>While the world shifted towards VODs, TikToks, and IPs, hololive just had to lean into it because they already had other areas covered.
>>112882303Hololive uses Western marketing as a testing ground>The vtubing market in the West is wild>Vshojo has collapsed>NijisanjiEN is around>Phase Connect and Chromashift are growing but not shaped in the direction of the industry>There is no clear leader, and the vacuum is giving hololive something they never had before>A low-risk sandbox an entire industry playground>If Enreco proves with merch sales and engagement that the narrative framework works, Cover can port the whole framework back to Japan >Hololive doesn't need a narrative push in Japan as the VTuber market is more mature and stable, but it's saturated>However, they need new ways to make money, and what better place to experiment than the low-risk, weak competition Western market, and the audience is hungry for something new>Twitch feels shaky, clips don't travel like they used to, Viewers are more picky, the old just stream a lot model feels heavier. This is where actual structured storytelling works.>Talks about how Beastiez and Densentsu.exe were also working on a narrative-driven model, but vshojo collapsed, and how they are trying to figure out how to make things work by themselves. They have the ingredients for narrative vtubing, but what they don't have is the infrastructure. Conclusion>He believe the rest of the industry might also shift to narrative-driven VTubing>He thinks vtuber agencies need to pick up their pace or else they will be left stranded by Hololive >He want small creators to have a fighting chance against hololive as its just the begining of this narrative drive era> He ends by saying "If hololive is already building towards this future of vtubing what happens to agencies and the creators who are still stuck in the past?"
>>112882303>>112882318TLDR: The creator of this video is basically saying there might be a shift toward narrative-driven content compared to the usual stream-long-hours meta, as people are getting more picky about the content they wish to consume, and, according to him, cover basically sees the west as a test ground because of low competition from major players. The whole video is his observation about the current vtubing market and how it would be ideal if there are more group out there who are also given a chance to compete with cover as they are just in their baby stage of creating a new vtubing pipeline.
>inb4 buy adI just watched this video and found it interesting you can either read it or watch the video yourself and debate before shitposting
Hasn't western vtubing has been a thing since like 2019 or 2020? Why is this dude acting like it just started? Hololive has been a part of western vtubing for several years.
>>112882397Fucking great. Can't wait for more Mel-slop vtubers with burp and fart narratives
>>112885014>Why is this dude acting like it just started?I didn't watch the video but the summary in this thread paints him as a Hololive fanboy, so clearly thinks everything Hololive does is the best.
>>112885195Its less of fanboy thing more of a they are the most popular and successful one of the bunch
>>112885014>Why is this dude acting like it just started? He is saying there is a new meta
>>112882303>ENrecoThis isn't 2024... ENreco way overstayed it's welcome.Who cares about narrative if the only one talking about it is some weirdo on YouTube?
>>112887157Enreco chapter 2 had 8 million viewership btw and that shit sold tons of merch
>>112882303> This is a natural evolution of a company trying to build IP to navigate Talent turnover, and ENreco fits directly into that strategyThats what the whole Hololive Alternative project is supposed to be for, not just ENReco
We've been talking about how Cover wanta to sell the IP over the actor for a long while now. It's why they tried so hard to make HoloEarth work and poured money into the tcg and rythem game too. Ways to keep selling the same product and IP with a slight rebranding, and without needing anything 'new' from old talents. They'll always stay away from stuff like Rusia, but I don't doubtt here'll be other graduated members in their product with no voice lines or voice lines ripped from old streams.
