But the local police were weirdly slow and didn't seem to understand that it's a felony and not a civil issue, so I had to go to the Department of Public Safety who have a whole division that deals with "hostage load" extortion situations exactly like this one.I got back my $500 deposit with the company and I guess they might be liable for the value of my stuff and have to cover the costs, but it just sucks that I'm probably not getting any of it back. There's a small chance that they can locate the right warehouse and raid it from the license plate photo I gave them, if they brought my stuff to a warehouse, but it sounds like scammers like this are usually quick to grab everything obviously valuable and trash the rest. From what I've looked up online, this kind of scam has gotten insanely common.Next time I guess I'll just rent my own u-haul or something, rather than risk another nightmare situation. You're right that he at least defended his ship against those raiders, but then again, he only blew one's arm off and then used the memory-wiping gun rather than snuffing them out... there will be time to smoke to your heart's content once the aliens are taken care of, Kitami. You have to stop seeing their blood as red. The future of mankind depends on it.
