You might notice also that I make a distinction here between inspiration (feeling creative) vs creativity (the daily activities and conscious steps you take to bring your idea to life)I believe that creativity is like a muscle that can be trained to provide a more reliable performance, and if someone intends to turn their passion into a carreer it is specially important for them to learn the habits and methods to get that muscle to work even in less than ideal situations. Hunger and bills don't wait, so you can't be waiting for the muse to come whenever she feels like either. In my case I'm a writer, and sometimes when I'm not feeling it, I just tell myself that I will sit and write for 200 words or 10 minutes. It doesn't have to be excellent, it doesn't have to be inspired, but I *will* sit and write to reach the objective I set for myself no matter how anxious or distracted my brain is at that moment. Additionally there are moments to the creative process that are more mechanical than others. Doing the rough sketch or drafting the key scenes is much like I imagine sketching would be: A deeply intuitive process where you envision your pure idea without any details or distractions. But adding in the details can be as monotone as writing the inbetween moments or figuring out which words to use to link around a scene that is already clear in your mind. Hayao Miyazaki sits and meditates for long periods of time to form the idea of his movies clear in his mind's eye. He certainly isn't connected to social media 24/7 which is a *huge* distractor for the deep focus creative side of the mind.Lastly keeping the right environment is also important so that your mind and body can flourish towards the high-level mental functions we call creativity. You wouldn't expect to perform your best if your coworker farted or if you didn't take a bath for the last 5 days or if you just had a fight with your SO. And because creative activities are such a sophisticated thing they are more sensitive to being hampered by these things than, say, doing accounting would be. Btw the woman who wrote the lyrics of Battle Hymn of the Republic (it almost became the US anthem from what I heard) used to do her writing before dawn and before anyone else woke up because that was the moment she could feel her best/freest. Also, the first time Abraham Lincoln heard the lyrics he broke into tears. Its actually quite a long storied song both before (John Brown's Body and the frontier churches anthems) and after its inception. Anyways sorry for the wall of text, because a lot of women seem to like drawing I thought maybe some of this could help you or something I dunno lol.

With singing there is also an emotional vulnerable component where maybe he feels awful about his voice and has a complex because his classmates made fun of his singing in 4th grade or whatever, in which case its the emotional reassurance he needs to work on rather than technical prowess. Maybe something like "it doesn't matter if the singing was perfect, what matters is that (you) were singing it and we love hearing you sing" would help to heal him I'm not sure.
