There is also organizing events as well. A lot of big indies are getting with professional managers as a way to get venues started. Of course the final biggest thing corpos do better is raising money, they have stock options and dividends.

That there's no free lunch. Cyberlive, Idol Corp, Vshojo. You can't give your entire workforce sweetheart contracts. You can't decline to take a % of streaming revenue and fund your company off just merch sales unless your company is a barebones mailing list like Mythic that doesn't do anything.
