>>113987287It's crazy how poorly merch companies are run. The deign, proofing, etc are a one time costs that you should essentially recoup immediately. Production is done in batches with a contract dictating when manufacturers get paid, how much, dispute resolution, etc... The money sitting in the account that you haven't paid the manufacturer yet is gaining interest and if you do the pre-orders right you don't even have to pay taxes on the payments for the actual product until the product ships, you just pay taxes on the interest earned. If you manage your labor correctly (Contract workers or contract company when you need them vs keeping full time staff doing nothing most of the year) you should essentially never be underwater. The business model these places have is so setup for success with how they can do things it's crazy how hard they fail. They could basically be a one man operation, contracting/outsourcing basically everything and just providing good QC themselves at every step of the way and make bank.

Of course we don't know the real reason why Mamanya was hospitalized, but I remember Henya saying a while ago that her mom suffers from high blood pressure and that she has a systolic pressure of 150 even if she takes a medicine. My mom had the exact same issue and she had to switch medicines 3/4 times until she found one that worked properly. I hope Mamanya takes the issue seriously, because with a pressure of 150 you might feel absolutely fine most of the time, but it's inevitable that you will have symptoms once in a while, sometimes it can be a mild headache and sometimes you can end up like Henya's grandpa, it's completely random.
