I also got back in touch with some buddies and we started a multiplayer server together with tweaked settings - mainly 0.9x player/party damage output, 1.1x player/party damage taken (later buffed to 1.3x), fast travel disabled except for bases, base count upped from 4 to 8, base pal limit upped from 15 to 20, and, most crucially, 0.7x XP gain modifier. We originally wanted to go 0.5x but one of the four of us is an extremely impatient dopamine-downregulated autismmaxxer so we did 0.7x as a compromise. The rest of us still feel that the progression is still ridiculously fast, yet to my shock, he says that 0.7x feels a bit slow... we're already at level 25ish after maybe 20 hours total of extremely unoptimal play where we're teaching one total newbie, the other two are having to unlearn a lot of things from the alpha meta, and we haven't really set out from the starting area bounded by the autumn and electric forest areas except for the wildlife sanctuary for Grizzbolt/Lunaris/Vaelet, so that should give you an idea of just HOW impatient this man is. After talking on it a bit more we've agreed that we'll hit level 30 to unlock the most fundamental QoL stuff and *then* drop xp to 0.5x, but I still fear that we may end up naturally skipping over entire tech tiers of new gear at a time without being able to justify using them, which was my main worry.One other unforeseen but actually welcome side effect of disabling world fast travel points is that you no longer get the tech points/xp drops from eagle statues either, so that has pressured us to ration our tech points and communicate with each other to see who has what unlocked already before dumping the points into something good the instant we see it. The only issue is that a) Mr. Impatient plays in an incredibly slow, unfocused way where he just wanders off constantly getting distracted by everything, and b) one of us joined lateso he's lagging behind despite being competent, so that means thatthe other two of us have been naturally ahead and thus unlocking new techs across the board since we're the first to get them, while the other two are kinda stockpiling tech points that can't be used to advance the group save for picking up a couple small things the more advanced players neglected. For that reason we adjusted a bit to having everyone at least unlock the essentials for themselves, like chests, some structures, spheres and whatnot to improve autonomy, and we'll start being really strategic and economical with tech points after we get assembly lines and especially once we start getting oil. Going to be great once we unlock breeding and the dedicated breeder of the team can start making use of the breeding stock I transferred over from my singleplayer world. Lots of new tier 5 passives from the World Tree he hasn't seen before that he's really eager to play around with.

All the extra bred specimens got condensed, and I then proceeded to nuke all the bosses and max out her stats with souls.I already have access to plasma rifles or whatever but I never built anything other than one stone tier base to make cake/food. I was going to try to build a new base for ammo/sphere production, but I've skipped like 5 sphere tech levels, so I might just try to beat the game with just the Majex and her supports and see if I actually hit a wall at some point, because so far the game seems a bit too easy. I guess it will leave plenty of post-game screwing around to do.

I hope we won't have to revert our damage multiplier settings when we get to the endgame due to the numbers simply making it literally impossible regardless of skill level... However, due to this lack of contact, many things transpired between them which, until now, I had been blissfully unaware of. Key among them is this: the Mr. Impatient Turbo-autist guy I mentioned? Let's call him Cameron. Some important background on Cameron: he is currently 33 years old, is a 6'3" skinnychubby giant with an extremely nasally voice, hair going down past his ass, and no job - only Social Security/Disability benefits because of autism/ADHD for which he has been prescribed a cocktail of meds, namely Adderall, Haldol, Bentropine, and Depakote. He has never held a job or had a girlfriend, but he isn't an unintelligent or even a socially incompetent guy - he understands adult concepts very well,has a very incisive and witty sense of humor, an extensive knowledge of popular culture, and he CAN take care of himself when he wants to. Cameron's real problem is that he was oneshotted by a lethal combination of a) the computer/video game dopamine machine, and b) coddling by his hippie boomer single mother. Now, Cameron lost his apartment, which he shared with his mother, in the Lahaina fire years ago. As he therefore needed a place to live, he was graciously allowed to stay in the apartment rented by the girlfriend of one of the other friends in this group - let's call that other friend Jake, and his girlfriend Mary. Mary had to move in with her grandparents for a while because her car died, making it impossible to get to work from said apartment, so she was allowing Cameron to stay there in the hopes that he would look after the place for the remainder of the lease period. Sounds good, right? After all, I'd stayed over at Cameron's place for weeks at a time in the past, and while he could be unhygienic, things were orderly enough that I didn't get the impression that he would be a nightmare roommate or anything. Well... I was wrong. As it turns out, in that two month period of being left to his own devices, Cameron had managed to totally *trash* the place. Not through malice or violence, as is perhaps more typical of trashed apartments, but simply due to sheer laziness and utter manchild dysfunction. For starters, he managed to get shit all over the bathroom, because he is extremely unhygienic and lazy. This is bad enough on its own, but believe it or not, that's the minor part. Worse still is that he managed to destroy the fridge. How, you may ask? Because Mary had prepared a very large amount of food in a $100 crock pot Jake had bought for her, which she requested Cameron eat before it went bad; Cameron promised to do so, and as such, Mary never felt the need to come back to check on it. Well... Cameron did not end up eating that food, as he promised he would. Instead, he went out to eat - every single day. As a result, the food Mary was worried about rotting, would indeed rot. It rotted so badly, in fact, that it ate through the ceramic of the crock pot, and ultimately, into the fridge itself, to the point that the fridge was unsalvageable and had to be replaced. And that was not the only thing of Mary's and Jake's that Cameron destroyed through sheer negligence, either: because Cameron almost always refuses to shower due to laziness and nihilism, refuses to use soap on the rare occasions where he DID shower for the same reasons, has long and greasy-ass hair that is therefore never properly washed, and also refuses to do laundry, he managed to completely ruin some of Jake's clothes at Mary's apartment that he had been allowed to wear. From what Jake tells me, they had to be thrown out because, despite Mary's best efforts to wash them, she was simply "unable to get the smell out".(1/2)

And suffice to say, as a direct consequence of Cameron's brainrotten, nihilistic manchild misconduct, Mary - who was simply trying to help out a friend in need - ended up losing her security deposit and took a pretty big hit on her reputation as a renter. I know for a fact that he will, too, because now I am involved, and I now feel a deeply, intensely personal drive to ensure that this abominable state of affairs does not stand because *I'm the one who introduced Cameron to Jake and Mary in the first place, and therefore, I feel indirectly responsible.* Holy Christ, I underestimated the degree to which Cameron's mom was the one keeping things in good order when they lived together... Lord help us all.
