As for me? When I watch Holo, it's all much the same stuff. There's hardly any threads to follow. Remember idols often have a personal story, a career arc, there's some reason to be invested. But in Holo when you turn on a stream, it's just the same girl giggles all the time.
Sure that's theraputic for some. You want girl giggles, you got it. But I think it lacks narratives, personal development. The only story there is to tell is someone who got rich after applying to Holo.

I once proposed the idea of scripted interactions. Where some talents fight, have rivalries, make up with each other....etc. And it's all planned out, like a WWE performance. It's like PekoMoona, there's a sense of progression and development.
Imagine for example something like EN Rico, but a yearlong arc. Advent vs. Justice, the great rivalry, with Myth as the judges. Imagine the drama as Bijou collabs with Mori, and people getting upset she's trying to influence the judge.
It gives people a reason to watch, for the narrative arc.

There's 3 classes of vtuber
1) Broad appeal
These vtubers profit through getting as big a reach as possible.
Primary income: Memberships and vod views.
2) Dedicated fanbase
These vtubers are carried by a small, highly dedicated group who donates a lot of money. They often dote a lot of attention on their donors which secures huge amounts of money despite a low audience count.
Primary income: superchats and donos
3) Stageshow starlet
These vtubers are in the game to perform, to make music, to take the stage. Their streaming career might only be mediocre, but the constant upswings from song releases and stage performances boosts them.
Primary income: Ticket sales, superchats based on covers and orisongs.

Most of hololive are Type 1 vtubers obviously. But memberships and vod revenue is "passive income" and so they have little incentive to churn out streams and content. If you make $300k through no work, and $330k through hard work, which will you do? The long term consequence of letting their channel languish is a future problem they rather not think about.
Type 2 vtubers have a different problem. They have to stream *constantly* to ensure their dedicated and emotionally-incontinent fans don't abandon them for the new hotness. If they take a break they get extreme anxiety. However as a tradeoff these vtubers can earn absolute fucktons of money, it's just not a stable income source and subject to rapid change based on their gachi luck. They are also usually highly parasocial, and a lot of women find this difficult or morally repugnant if they have a significant other.

Whenever I procrastinate or just surf the net when I'm sick off work (like today), I like to visit this board occasionally, maybe like 3-4 times a week briefly, and laugh at everyone. I used to like watching couple of holos until 2022 maybe, but they're obviously boring people that come up with stories (or are straight up unpleasant people who lie all the time) and the fanbase is extremely pathetic and mentally ill.
