That's what I'm saying. It's dumb. Mococo gets blamed for a lot of stuff, (some fairly, others unfairly) but her worrying about nobody showing up to her birthday is a perfect example. However Fuwawa does this too, where she says things like "Oh the Japanese don't even know who FUWAMOCO are." or "Japanese fans don't even know we're part of Hololive".

They have this weird fucking complex about Japanese fans in particular, probably because of their inherent weebery, and probably partly because of their history as small time idols, where they're always afraid that they'll be left behind or forgotten, or disliked by Japan.

Ironically they somehow hold this conflicting belief that if they just appeal a little bit more, this sudden rush of Japanese Hololive fans who didn't even know they existed or were in Hololive will just discover them and love them.

They go to extremes when the reality is more simple. A lot of fans know who they are, but aren't that interested. They're in Hololive now, not underground idols, and not some small offshoot branch of a niche idol group to begin with. Not that the Japanese hate them, not that they don't know them, but really, if you're a JP fan, you've got nearly 50 talents to choose from and half of them stream more than FUWAMOCO do. There might be a few odd fans here or there who are dedicated to FUWAMOCO exclusively despite not speaking English but the majority of JP fans will be Hololive Box fans, which is a double edged sword. If you're in the Hololive Box, you're well known and guaranteed a bare minimum of support at least, but you're also competing against absolute monsters like Suisei, Pekora, Marine, Subaru, etc. It's not a coincidence they're doing collabs with Suisei and Marine, and not people like Roboco (sorry Robosa) and Aki (sorry Rosetai).

I'm just frustrated because it shows a lack of faith in themselves but also lack of care for their fans who even got them this far, that is, the EN fans, who are more likely to leave over being neglected, than JP fans are likely to fully switch over from being pandered to. Their big event will either be big or Pekora and Subaru will do an offcollab where they drunk dial Marine and that will take all the attention.

I know I'm either preaching to the converted or being ignored by people who don't care/can't read, but this is the only place I could say this stuff because I'm sure if I ever expressed to FUWAMOCO how genuinely silly (and stupid) they're being, I'd just start a flamewar in the comments which of course I don't want to subject them to, no matter how exasperated I am with them.

For Omega, it was a mythical blend of EN viewers who wanted super serious deep lore and male Vtubers. For Hololive of the past, it was billions of Chinese people who would suddenly fork over all their money but somehow not freak out over the slightest missteps according to their indoctrination of always being the underdog and yet somehow the most powerful nation on Earth.

People are interested in what you have to offer or they aren't and 99.99% of the time when you go chasing another audience, you just end up losing the one you already had. There's a million examples of this in movies, video games, literature, sports, and Vtubing is just another example. And God forbid you realize this like a sane person, then you get canceled, like the new Stargate show at Amazon, because some executive didn't think it did enough to "bring in new viewers". The simple fact is if they want to keep their current audience, and grow their JP fan mindshare, they need to stream more. They need to collab more, to organize events and box game/events like the PuyoTetris tournament they're partaking in. I know they're probably busy recording for their album/VN/whatever is in store that they'll announce next weekend, but I think I, along with many other Ruffians and fans would be fine if they slowed their roll when it comes to the studio hours and would prefer more streams and being involved with other Holos ON STREAMS.
I'd be fine if my merch took another month to start shipping because they didn't spend 20+ hours a week signing limited merch, 20 hours designing merch, or another 20 hours trying to get a perfect recording for VP #63, or partaking in the common, mostly useless corporate meeting for hours every day. They have to strike a better balance of streaming and off-stream work, and that in its current state(the last two 2.5 years of their career) means less time at the studio, talking to managers about other work, and more time streaming.
And I don't even mean daily streams for 3+ hours, but I think 3-4 streams per week would be perfectly reasonable and they would easily be able to fit those in with their other work during the day, because they could stream at night, and if they want to do a JP stream every so often, they can do it in the morning or when they're at the studio. Obviously sleep being the top priority for them, and I would rather studio time and meetings with staff take the hit than streams, and they need to start being adamant about these limits. They earn enough to be a bit bossy, and they should be because this is their career. Cover is supposed to be supporting them and that means more than just "we're getting so many opportunities so let's work 60+ hours a week at the studio to do EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW" when they would be just as fine taking 20-50% longer to achieve likely better results while also streaming.
