And once houses have heat pumps, all you need is a heat pump with a switching valve to run it as an AC. But if you have a heat pump feeding wet central heating radiators of course that doesn't work very well.There was a while where houses were built (60s?) with a type of central air system where hot air from a furnace was blown to each room via ducts. But thats a long lost relic now.The number of hot days isn't really enough to justify whole house AC, but portable units are becoming popular last 5 or 6 years. It took me a long time to realize ultimately I can only help people as much as the two of us can agree to let me help (and they can only help me that much too). I got a lot more accepting of things as they are, and just doing little things where I can and where people can accept them. The big picture is out of my hands, no matter the metaphysics of the universe.

Like a few deleted messages on a discord matter is not a big deal, it's not even worth getting upset or overthinking over. There are loads of reasons someone might want to remove messages on their server (especially when the server is seen as a public front for a professional group) and many of them come down more to housekeeping than any kind of judgment against an individual or implication that they're now in trouble just because they had their message deleted. I think this is just one of those cultural differences people are going to have to learn going from here to there.
