The holoen business model doesn't work because 10,000 americans donating to some whatever this chick is is enough to keep her fed, fat and pregnant for years. You have to mix it up with new debuts and it's been 2 years since debuts. If there were another 15 girls (including 2022, the lost year) you'd have overlap and a split box, the Kweens like gura before she graduated would feel pressured by new girls to keep streaming or lose her audience to someone who does stream.When you give them everything they want, they check out.

Sana graduated over 4 years ago there were warning signs that in certain areas, like model redesigns, that management will rarely compromise. Yagoo almost certainly did consider rushing out several new EN gens and steamrolling over the old gens. He must have decided that it would cause too much damage their western reputation and Hololive did not copy the Nijisanji strategy of constant gen releases. Of course with the doomposting in 2026 it does look bad and the hiatus breaks are getting noticeable but it doesn't feel as grim as it did in 2022 even with the merge. Certain talents clearly are more optimistic after they announced that visual updates would be a frequent event.tldr The merge did caused a huge drop in morale but despite that most of EN is still in a better mood than they were in 2025

The talents who don't care about the idol stuff don't really care about losing the EN concerts. Honestly I care a lot more about 3D lives than paywall concerts so even I don't consider the EN concert to be a major loss but many other things are now gone. The general loss of EN identity, the loss of EN exclusive events, and that the new standard will be management controlled events like ENreco. Most Hololive events will be JP events with some of the EN/ID talents thrown in but 95% of the dialogue will be in Japanese. The merge will come with a lot of negatives that will take a while to filter down.
