This got me curious. Why do some vtubers care about having merch like plushies and such? I understand the profit part, but I have seen some say it's their dream to have a plushie of their vtuber persona. As an artist I have many OCs but never had the wish to see them as merch for people to buy and have in their home. I can understand merch from anime since it's actual popular characters, but from a single "real" person that streams or creates videos for a living? Do they see themselves as a marketable character or something? Feels a little narcissistic if that's the case.

In the end vtubing is a performance in all aspects, you've just got a few too many CM Punks and not enough Undertakers right now. To reject this is to reject vtubing and to fall in line with regular western streaming/video production.
