Hololive failed to adapt to a mature industry. In the early days of vtubing there was a lot of latent talent out there waiting to be expressed. You could hire someone unknown and hit it big. But these days pretty much anyone with talent is already big on their own. Either as an indie or in another corpo. Hololive has no way to hire those people. If you wanted to hire some top tier talent from twitch for example, they will refuse a 50% contract out of hand. You would probably need to offer them way different terms, maybe 15% plus licensing. But as an autistic japanese corporation a simple business deal like that is out of the question.
