I have this problem where I push everybody away if I’m not perfect and the best at everything. I hate people seeing my imperfections, I hate the idea that someone who sees from afar and likes what they see but once I let them in they would reject me because I’m too weird, too broken, too strange, not good enough, that I’m not valuable as a person. That would destroy me. So I have pushed nearly every single person in my life away to arm’s length. I don’t have friends. I speak to one person in my entirely family which is my mother but not even she knows everything about me. I keep a big part of myself gated away from her and only show her the very limited safe and perfect parts, or a calculated display of vulnerability sometimes. The only some respite I have my oshis, they feel like they’re representing the parts of me I wish I could show to the world and be accepted for. The more I go without close contact to others, the more my social skills atrophy to the point I have no idea how to bridge the gap between strangers to friends now. Everyone just interacts with a well rehearsed script that I designed to maintain civility and friendly association. People have tried to learn things about me, invited me out places, asked me out romantically, and it’s not that I did not want to do these things, but I was scared of the consequence and always excused myself out of it. What happens when they learn who I am? They won’t like me. They won’t just be rejecting the false image I present to the world, they’re rejecting my heart and identity, but if I was perfect they could never reject me. I can’t ever be perfect though. What do I do? Without perfection, I am too much of an outcast to fit in or be valuable that someone would want me. People have told me that I seem “mysterious” and they like that, then why do you try to learn about me? Why do you want to ruin the mystery which is always better than reality?I hate.

I mean I am/was a bit of a walking freakshow at first sight but I just acted as if it was so natural that others had no choice but to play along as well, and I even found some that were willing to get to know me better. Surely there are some out there who would be willing to accept you for who you are. Many of us put on some level of front that we lower around those we care about. Its human nature really. But I understand the fear of rejection and I don't think I've ever felt worse than when I was vulnerable about my true feelings with someone I really liked only to be met with cruel apathy. You have to be careful about hitting people with anything too heavy is what my most honest advice would be. You have to reel them in slowly and reveal yourself bit by bit so as not to give them too much whiplash at once. Maybe there's no one you can reveal everything to, I'm not really sure myself, but I believe you can reveal a lot about yourself over time after developing a connection with those who are actually worth having a connection with.
