I think it was a game of telephone?Subaru came across as much taller longduck is long iykyk, and Mio as much shorter than what their 3D models and stats would have you believe. Something to do with where they were looking and where their models' faces are and where their actual faces would be; that was the "tell" in the end.

Big anime head pushes the rest of the body down, big unremovable heels push the entire model up. I think older members are more prone to the made up height because they weren't really expecting to have to interact in 3D like this.
