I didn't stay for long but graduations always make me emotional. Especially when the chuuba starts singing.

It reminds me of how fleeting every moment is. About how someday even the present moment will be a distant memory. By then my life could be completely different, maybe I'll look back on this time fondly, wistfully. I think in a way, their singing reminds me of how much I took them for granted, and in turn how I've taken other things in my life for granted in the same way.

I don’t know how much this will speak to you but this made me think of the Sopranos season 1 finale where the entire family packs into Vesuvio’s to get out of the rain. Tony tells them little moments like this are what really matter, time they get to all spend together. Cut to a few seasons later, Meadow is away, AJ hates both of his parents, and Tony and Carmela are separated.
Real life isn’t a crime drama of course but in my own life I’ve found it crazy how little has to happen for my entire life down to my daily routine to be changed forever.
I’m sure you have little habits in rituals that you partake in currently that you appreciate and would miss if you became unable to perform them. Maybe something as small as your local cafe no longer making your favorite coffee.
I’ve never found it productive thinking about where I could be or how much better my life could be if it was a little different. Living in the moment has allowed me to be content, and go through each day with few regrets. I think it’s made me a more productive person overall, which is what I like to be.
Again, nothing good is guaranteed in any of our futures, if you don’t appreciate what you have now you may end up being miserable your entire life, cause it will only get worse.

I wish I had something to say to comfort her about her grandmother but I can’t think of anything that wouldn’t be trite.
I’ve lost plenty of family myself, including my mother, but I’ve never felt too strongly about any of them. Sure I cried but I found that the tears mostly came from feeling sorry for myself rather than truly missing the person.

I'm sorry. I wasn't really sad when my grandma died, though we weren't close (we only visited our grandparents once a year at most). I remember my dad not showing much emotion over it so maybe I get it from him. I didn't even cry when my dog I'd had since I was 6 died a few years ago. I don't know if I'm not emotionally affected by things the way I should be or if I just process them differently. Probably some kind of autism in both our cases, not sociopathy.
