>>8074528Interesting how humans have reached a point in evolution where we're now capable of such peaks of highly technical high definition engineering as can be seen in modern very large screen tv's, and yet the quality and standards of the writing and storytelling used to create content to be shown on such modern technology has mostly taken many huge steps backwards in the same period of time...

>>8075369>no longer primarily about entertaining the audienceIt never was. From the very first nation-wide radio all through to TV broadcasts the goal was to further improve on the massive propaganda successes provided by centralized and compulsory schooling. Printing presses and publishing was regulated and controlled from way before the USA even existed. Entertainment was and is merely how you get people to tune in. 99% is sesame street for adults.

>>8062663The tiger looked incredibly cool, but the t34 specially the t34/85 has such an immeasurable aura. The Tiger's combine of the 88 flak, square bulky lines, super powerful engine for its weight and time and thick plates of steel make it arguably the most fantastic tank of the war, plus it had remarkable adaptability, fighting both in the hot deserts of Africa and also in the frozen east. But the t34/85 has something about it that isn't really defined by words.

Damn... 815 days since I made this thread.Never thought I'd end up like thisAll my friends moved abroad and are living their best lives. They escaped this shithole. They actually made it. Meanwhile, it feels like I'm stuck in the same place, watching everyone else move forward.I'm doing a shitty degree with basically no job prospects. I don't think I'm particularly smart. I'm broke, my family situation is mediocre at best, and I constantly compare myself to my friends' success. Every time I see them doing well, I just end up resenting my own life even more.At this point, it honestly feels like the only way I'd ever "make it" is if I wasn't here anymore.
>>8140211Thanks for making it. Dream man, figure out what the hell it is you want, dream until you're like "Oh shit that's it! I could do that!" I know you said you're in a shitty degree with basically no job prospects, I did exactly, exactly the same thing and it took 7 years for a bachelors. I don't know if you should keep doing that and make the best of it or quit, but I do know you gotta dream something that makes you go "okay, that would be worth it". Don't compare yourself to your friends though, your movement toward the dream should be measured with respect to you and what you're doing. I just randomly showed up here for the first time in years as well, I hope this message finds you and you get after it. Seriously. Good luck, it'll be hard but you can do it.
>>8140211>I'm doing a shitty degree with basically no job prospects.Ask yourself why you chose that degree, was it a topic you personally enjoy? is it a degree you were expected to take by others (family, friends, etc.)? Was it a degree recommended by peers/professors?Do you have the option to switch to a different degree topic that might serve you better?>I don't think I'm particularly smart. You're doing a degree, that already makes you pretty smart to even be in that position, it's not something just anyone can do, so unless it's a degree in something useless like lesbian dance theory or communist utopias, chances are you're probably smarter than you think.>I'm brokeFind some work, doesn't have to be the best most high paying job in the world, just something that puts some money in your pocket and gets you out of the house on a daily basis while doing something that keeps you occupied with a new routine and preferably around different people.>I constantly compare myself to my friends' successYou're not them, and they're not you, stop comparing and live your own life. Everyone has to make their own choices when it comes to adulting, what works for you might be very different than worked for your friends.>Meanwhile, it feels like I'm stuck in the same placeSave your pennies wisely and then start looking for opportunities elsewhere outside of your comfort zone. Doesn't have to be on the other side of the world, could be somewhere three towns away, just as long as it gives you a change of scenery and a new perspective on life.>it honestly feels like the only way I'd ever "make it" is if I wasn't here anymore.Given the rest of your post that's maybe understandable, but it's also complete bullshit. You're doing a degree which means you're capable of working hard AND using your brain (both important skills) at least when you're not wallowing in self-pity, so get out there and grab life with both hands while you still can.
>>8140211>>8140241I ran out of letters in the previous post... so thank you for the novel and interesting thread.
>>8062663>>8121419Tiger 1 = Perfection at any cost.T-34-85 = Perfection is the enemy of good enough. That's the difference. :)
>>8056349And to think that the only reason American trucks got so stupidly massive over the years wasn't for increased passenger/load carrying practicality or passenger/pedestrian safety reasons, it was purely so the car manufacturers could sell product while bypassing environmental emissions and gas mileage laws...
