>>6172618Yeah, it really sucks that people come here just to troll or be racist or whatever the whole bnwo thing is or just drop pol nonsense into other anons attempts at having a discussion about a thing. Like dude, I just want chill out and have a few laughs while we talk about he man. I've tried leaving but x or discord just don't fit me very well I guess. Idk, I'm rambling and I apologize for this but I think just six months of proactive moderation would go along way to bringing this place back up to speed as an image board and as a place people would like to use again and it might even get a few more ad bucks. Which is why things keep getting worse year over year, why spend money on a site that can't make money? It's guys like IMBRED and their banner ads keeping the lights on.

>>6186208People blame smart phones and a bunch of other shit but it was inevitable. Not just the third world but the average age of internet users will continue to get older. 2000-2010 was magical time because it was the big wave of internet users and they were all middle school to college aged. You can literally see the Internets life span as a human. No one on the internet really cared about politics or money. There was porn but people weren't obsessed with it like old men. People started getting older, started caring about the world, they no longer thought it was funny to convince people to kill themselves like edgy teenagers nor did they find any joy in stupid randumb shit anymore. People as they age get into politics, politicians and countries saw this and started pushing agendas. Companies realized the potential for profits and made everything a business. Now you don't know if you're talking to a person or with propagandist. Gone are the days of making youtube videos for fun, instead you have "influences" making careers of getting your attention.
>>6189962This is probably the most well worded description of what happened to the internet I've ever read, well put Anon. Shame about it all really, but the best any of us that are left can do is try to keep the small embers of the spirit alive lest it be lost forever.

I miss /f/ =(
>>6200951This song feels sad. It's like hearing a voice recording from someone who is dead.
I'm glad I found this thread. It's been years since I've been to this website. It's been way too long.Someone mentioned that /f/ was gone, and sure enough it's dead. I didn't expect to see it up and running anymore but still. Visited /b/ for the first time in a very long time. Not much has changed. /b/ was never good. I remember when people were pissed at the newfags posting ragecomics or later pepe. It's always been a part of the cycle. At least all of it had creative energy. At this point the pretense is gone, now it's just effortless porn and spam. It looks like most of the website is a containment board now and I'm not sure what it's trying to keep out or keep in when nearly every thread is shit. I wonder if yall get the same feeling I do. There's there's no where to go, no where to fit in. People are either so vapid that they can't hold an interesting conversation, or so sensitive that even having a mere thought of disagreement instantly shuts them down. There's no back and forth, even in a playful manner. On top of that, everything is so sterile and uniform that any dissent makes you stand out. It's not just politics, it's on every dumbfuck normie thing out there. Even as I age, I just can't go along with all the ways things have changed. I dunno if any of yall deal with the same shit, but I thought I'd throw it out there regardless. Got a kick out of seeing half this shit I've nearly forgotten about. Cheers from a fellow oldfag, and I hope yall fuckers are doing alright.
>>6204610>It's not just politics, it's on every dumbfuck normie thing out there. This is the worst of all, everyone's in the same spaces and everyone's pissed off all the time. Even doing the bare minimum to separate yourself like not using social media gets people assuming things about you, there's really no escape.I've been thinking about how even as recently as the early 2010s I used to be able to go online for a couple hours and then turn off my PC and internet and go do something else, even if it was just watching TV. Internet addiction is cool and mainstream now so everything's shifted online and directed towards icons and text and not IRL people, so being aggressive to others is seen as the same as running over NPCs in GTA, as if nobody you talk to is real. I just wish I enjoyed the pre-mass internet era before it turned to this.

>>6204610In addition to nerds being erased from their own subculture, subcultures themselves are effectively gone. Everything is part of the monoculture where all you need to take over a subculture that still exists in some form is high social capital/clout, because all the hard work and passion that goes into subcultures have already been packaged into easy to digest wikis, youtube videos and tiktok. Normalfags are never content with having enough social capital/clout, they always want more.

Really do miss this old culture too. I didn't start using 4chan till 2009, and wasn't really keyed into board "culture" till maybe 2011. But I had been going to anime cons since 2004, and the con culture of the time was very much similar. Back when being a nerd and into anime/internet stuff was a social death sentence irl so just meeting up with people who knew what the fuck you were talking about was cool in and of itself. Any sane person couldn't wrap their heads around why people were so against g*mergate. I can't say for sure if the response to anti-gg is responsible for the world we live in today, but it's safe to assume that it has played a part in it.
>>6232106Also banned GETS (nobody could get dubs, trips, quints, etc for a while) and imposed stupid fucking word filters on various boards. Moot was being a faggot for some time for these reasons and many more, so I understand why anons got so frustrated by him.
>>6174917/f/ is dead nigger what do you expect me to do
>>6232418you can obviously type gamergate now lmfao. and no your off-topic culture war slapfest wasn't why a president was elected.
>>6232418>Some anons even theorize that the rise of the online alt-right and even Trump's eventual rise to presidency can be attributed to the puzzling hostility to the g*mergate movement.Gamergate.No faggot, 4chan didn't elect Trump you absolutely insane retarded fucker. People were mad that Obama turned out to be a faggot and the two choices at the end of the election were between a buffoon and a warhawk. You know what? There's a book that says that SA lead to Trump being elected, so if you want to follow a stupid point, follow it to the source. Fucking newfag.>>6231398>AHAHA yeah fuck trannies trying to talk like they were the userbase.Posts like this seem to not understand, THE CALLS ARE COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE. This specific brand of troonery exploded in the very early 10s when porn addiction, a need for novelty and lack of female attention all collided with social media and anons realized they could become their own gfs.
>>6232603>>6232650>I can't say for sure if the response to anti-gg is responsible for the world we live in today, but it's safe to assume that it has played a part in it.Did you two fuckers not read that last sentence, or are you too stupid to comprehend it?
>>6232667You can't stop me from overreacting.Regardless,>It was a huge deal at the timeno it wasn't, it was entirely contained within our sphere and it was a non-event. And it would have remained that way until TPTB realized that this was their chance to completely co-opt the entirety of the gaming industry away from the gaming enthusiasts because they were easily bait-able retards. This lead to the "Gamers are dead" articles that all appeared at the same time in gaming sites.
>>6233051yes, that is why it suddenly became a big deal. it was artificially inflated for outrage content and each side reacting only further escalated this complete nonissue until it was somehow all over the regular news and being discussed in person by normies. 4chan was already in hot water from the isla vista shit that had /r9k/ celebrating their saint on every tv screen back in may, and that was coupled with the simultaneous probable inside job that caused 4chan and drawquest to be hacked on the same day. the latter was drained of its last remaining funds and had to be shut down immediately. moot already had personal drama with a woman tied to 4chan during that summer who later got roped into the gamergate fiasco (not the one he was supposedly friendzoned by in all those pictures, but she was involved as well) and by august he was dealing with the fappening leak that had jennifer lawrence trying to personally destroy 4chan with lawsuits. combined with the constant turmoil of various splinter altchans trying to steal the userbase of 4chan in anger over some moderation decision or another (something they have literally always done), the incessant sony and other gaming leaks posted on 4chan, staff repeatedly going rogue and doxing users or each other, the rapid politicization of seemingly every website into taking some sort of coherent ideological stance, and the fact that even the staff were confused by the speed and longevity of all this shit and suspected external involvement, it really isnt difficult to figure out why tptb would want to make sure 4chan became verboten in the public consciousness and moot would lose it. he was notorious for pissing off his staff by berating them and for acting in a self-destructive erratic manner when it came to his relationships with women, especially on the website itself. even in the earliest days of 4chan his staff would humiliate him using the userbase whenever they thought he was acting like a little dictator.
>>6233051>no it wasn'tDude, the two bitches at the centre of it were invited to speak at a UN meeting. It absolutely should not have been a big deal but it was needlessly blown out of proportion simply because the media and simps couldn't cope with the fact that their manic pixie dream girls were absolute whores. It was absolutely baffling. You will still get anti-g*mergate defenders to this day, even after the danger-haired bitch was exposed multiple times falsely accusing people of rape (one poor guy even killed himself), swindling, lying and even astroturfing the whole anti-gg movement. The hypocrisy is why people got so emotionally invested in it. Where is 4chan's UN report, huh? At least the UN later expressed regret over supporting the evil bitches but that was after their report they manufactured out of it got exposed as one of the most incompetent works they've ever produced. Sweet Baby Inc is a direct consequence of all this shit and retards still defended it. The reason we have ugly bitches with side shaves in video games is because of this shit. In the grand scheme of things, gg was pretty inconsequential, but it was a symptom of an illness that had been brewing for years.
>>6232650Dear Richard,Rest In Pepperoni. Also, I always pictured you as a fat basedcuck and not a skinny lanklet faggit. You love and learn.Love,$10bux
