Took a walk, tried to pray, and I feel like my prayers are far more rushed and shallow than they used to be. I don't really know, because it was always something that felt like a small struggle for me. Maybe I look at it in a confused way, but I don't feel stillness. I have treated prayer as something perhaps meaningless for a while, I may have bastardized it. In general I feel in a rush, when I try to find stillness, I don't feel well.

I have for a long time now, felt no yearning for life. I often want to die. I've recently felt drawn towards Orthodoxy and now have an interest in it coming from a Baptist background. I was wondering if any of you have stuff on Orthodoxy vs Catholicism vs Protestantism, arguments for and against their theology, etc. Additionally, I am of partial Bulgarian descent but there is no Bulgarian Orthodox church near me (there is one over an hour away across the Canadian border), closest is Russian Orthodox although there are Greek and Ukrainian churches in the area as well. How do I go about deciding which to attend vs the Catholic Church which is universally the same for example?

Bulgarian, Russian, Ukraine, Antiochian, Greek, Romanian (and so on) is about territory, not ethnicity. For example I know a guy who's Arabic but instead of going to an Antiochian parish (which lies in Turkey but was previously Syrian) he attends a Greek parish. There's two big differences between the different patriachates:
1. Liturgical language - Irrelevant for you unless you already speak church slavonic, greek, arabic etc. Some churches in the US use english only though, I'd phone them and ask.
2. Style - Irrelevant for inquirers unless you feel drawn to a specific style. For example Russian parishes are well-known for not sitting down (unless they're sick or old), meanwhile Greek parishes got seats or pews. I'd just try out both and check which style you prefer.
What remains the same is the theology, arguments against other beliefs, the saints, the liturgical texts (just the language changes) and some minor preferences.

In short: It's best to just attend liturgy (or other services!) in a few different parishes. Also call the priest ahead so you know when they have services since some parishes only have services every other week, once a month or multiple a week.

In church history we've seen multiple patriarchs cooperating with Politicians, bending the knee, being manipulated and so on regardless of jurisdiction. However, Orthodox don't believe in some manifest superiority of the patriarchs since the head of the church always was, is and will always be Christ. And the Holy Spirit guides us, that's why we had false councils and still condemned them later.
Currently both the ecumenical patriarch and the patriarch of moscow seem to have some ties to the politics that surround them, but as laity I'd simply ignore this as it's a mud flinging contest like all modern politics. Either way: You will not be judged because you entered the 'wrong' orthodox church as all eastern orthodox jurisdictions are just one church. You can see Russians venerating St Paisios the Athonite and Greeks venerating St. John of Kronstadt.

I'll be honest, I have no clue. Imagine for a second you're a doctor: You could focus on how the hospital you're applying for is structured and learn all about that or you could learn about medicine and how to properly heal people. I try to focus first on acquiring the right mindset, not how the organization behind the church is structured.

I've heard that in the US the antiochian parishes are very welcoming to inquirers and Metropolitan Saba seems like a very open and loving person. Ultimately, I'd try out different parishes around you and see which one you like the most, the Lord will give you the time and insight to find the right one for you.
Also I can highly recommend praying about this. The Lord will guide you, if you let Him!

My lung collapsed and I was in the hostpital for 3 days. They reinflated it, removed the tube on the third day and said it seemed good. They sent me back home. Felt very little pain after, and yesterday, and most of today, but suddenly, I'm having implacable pain again. I felt a need to caugh when it first collapsed, which aside from a slight fluttery sense, I don't feel l don't feel so much right now, but I still have felt a bit of a need to. It's quit possible my lung collapsed again, and I honestly think it has..... Maybe it's for the best, spiritually, that I live with health problems..... I don't like that, but the most spiritually alive I felt in a long time was the day I left the hostpital. I had to think about things I don't normally think about, and I think I was being sifted like wheat by Satan, like Archbishop Averky said is the goal of Satan in that one quote. It's mournful if I have to live like this. But I'd rather do so and be saved than be a spiritual corpse, as I have been for a very long time. However, none - NONE - of the saints ever recommended us to not take care of our bodies. They all followed Christ's example who repeatedly healed people of their physical ailments and reprimanded the apostles when they could not due to their lack of faith.
I believe it's best for you to remember the situation you're in, how you feel like you can only rely on Christ and then attempt to get healed by a doctor, while in constant prayer like St. Paul who also accepted his cross but not after attempting to be healthy and painless.
