The tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end of contempt. We have endured no end of ridicule from the arrogant, of contempt from the proud
it is hidden from your eyes
Jesus wouldn't want you reposting this stupid shit over and overkill yourself
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me
Do not let your hearts be troubled

Sorry to be a beggar but if you could pray for me I'd appreciate it.
I am human. In the beginning, there is inner chaos, pulling us away from God.God with us, cantrip spells.Instinctual Schizo-forensics at the source, drove a peaceful ruler to annihilation and meaningless dancing. Such a sad state of being. Not the kind of fruit I want to eat.Meditate on this:To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”What objective reality does this reveal? How does my finite mind structure or limit my understanding of this truth? What a priori assumptions or biases do I bring?I pray for clear thinking, intellectual honesty, a love of truth, and the grace to let reason lead us toward God rather than away from Him.Show me my limits, direct my intellect dynamically toward God, and encourage the truth I see to actualize through me.In the morning Lord, help me conform my mind to reality while humbly recognizing my cognitive filters. And at night, as I lay down to rest, show me Where did I treat opinions as absolute? Where did I fail to seek objective good?I will ground my decisions in objective natural law and virtues.I will ask, what is the purpose of this action? Does it fulfill my nature as a rational creature oriented toward God?I will actualize, knowing that my actions are a covenant of what I will to become a universal law. I will honor personal autonomy and universal respect.Seek objective good.Acknowledge mental categories and biases.Universalize and reconcile with Jesus Christ.
Even when thoughts get wild and make us want to do silly or angry things that hurt ourselves or others, we choose not to grow that kind of fruit.Jesus tells us:“If you hold on to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”Let’s ask ourselves:What true thing is Jesus showing us here? How does our own thinking sometimes make it harder to see clearly?Lord Jesus, help us think clearly and love the truth.Guide our minds and hearts toward You.Show us what we don’t yet understand.Turn what we learn into good actions. In the morning: Help us see things as they really are, even when our brains see them a little differently. At night: Show us when we acted like our opinion was the only one, or when we didn’t choose what is right and good.Help us make choices that are fair and kind.Help us ask: “Does this help me become the person God made me to be?”Help us treat others with the respect we want for ourselves. And most of all, help us follow Jesus in everything we think, say, and do.Jesus, You are the Truth who sets us free.Make us Your faithful friends and followers.Amen
Sometimes we want to do wrong things. But God is with us, and Jesus is close.Jesus says: “Hold on to my teaching. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”Jesus, help us love the truth.Help our hearts turn toward You.Help us do good things. In the morning: Help us see what is really true.At night: Show us when we were unkind or unfair.Help us be kind to others.Help us become who You made us to be.Help us follow Jesus every day.Jesus, You are the Truth. Set us free.
Sometimes we want to do bad things. But God is with us. Jesus is close.Jesus, help us be good.Help us be kind.In the morning: Help us see what is true.At night: Help us be sorry when we are not kind.Jesus loves us.Jesus helps us.This is truth.
Jesus with us.Jesus help. Be good.Be kind. Morning: see true.Night: say sorry. Jesus loves us.Jesus helps us."Truth"

John 3:2This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with himJohn 1:38Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, What are you seeking? And they said to him, Rabbi , where are you staying? John 3:26And they came to John and said to him, Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, behold, He is baptizing and all are coming to Him John 4:31Meanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, Rabbi, eat John 6:25When they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, Rabbi, when did You get here? John 9:2And His disciples asked Him Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind? John 11:8The disciples said to Him, Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone You, and are You going there again? Mark 9:5Peter said to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah Mark 11:21Being reminded, Peter said to Him, Rabbi, look, the fig tree which You cursed has withered John 1:49Nathanael answered Him, Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel Matthew 26:25And Judas, who was betraying Him, said, Surely it is not I, Rabbi? Jesus said to him, You have said it yourself Matthew 26:49Judas went to Jesus and said, Hail, Rabbi! and kissed HimMark 14:45Judas immediately went to Him saying, Rabbi! and kissed HimMark 10:51And answering him Jesus said, What do you want Me to do for you? And the blind man said to Him, Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!

Can I be sure there is no such thing as good in me if my flesh feels like my prison? I feel like there's absolutely no respite for my existence. I often think my flesh is a curse and I hate it. I often feel my existence is grueling and I feel at times as if my existence is a predicament. Took a walk, tried to pray, and I feel like my prayers are far more rushed and shallow than they used to be. I don't really know, because it was always something that felt like a small struggle for me. Maybe I look at it in a confused way, but I don't feel stillness. I have treated prayer as something perhaps meaningless for a while, I may have bastardized it. In general I feel in a rush, when I try to find stillness, I don't feel well. I have for a long time now, felt no yearning for life. I often want to die. I don't feel animated to kill myself, it doesn't feel like the depths of despair, but part of me simply wants to give out, even if I don't believe it's my time. I feel a sense of just wanting to coast away. I don't like this life. I'm spiritually ill, undoubtedly. I also have an almost superstitious and illogical attatchment to negative thoughts, that often accompany the rushed senseI have. Weird things like situations of dying. It's OCD like. It's pointless, but it's something I deal with. This is among many things, some of which I don't have the mental clarity to understand, some of which I've posted about before and are just pathetic to repeat. I'm a retarded sinner. I don't understand the depths of my own sin, and I'm not in the spiritual state to even be shaken about it. I'm worthless. I've lived for things I can't say are of ultimate importance, even if I've found a place in some areas, and a couple of friends. I've had vain and downright perverse desires. I'm a mess.

The idea in which you are destined before even your birth, to either go to heaven or hell, this paints God as an evil tyrant which goes completely against scripture.Even their founder, Calvin himself, when confronted with this, just simply said "maybe God has the answers" because he couldn't defend it either.

The biggest argument behind this is the cult of Sol invictus, which was founded way past Christianity, and was founded specifically to combat Christianity by emperor Aurelian.Christmas was also celebrated earlier than that. This was in the early 3rd century (around 221 AD), Christian historian Sextus Julius Africanus was the first to date Jesus' conception to March 25 (the Annunciation).Counting nine months forward from March 25 led early Christian writers to calculate December 25 as the date of Jesus' birthIt was the pagans who unironically tried to supress a Christian holiday, they started celebrating on December 25, 274 AD. Which is entire decades after Christmas chose December 25th not to mention that sol invictus was celebrated on different days such as in October or early December altogether. The celebration of sol invictus was completely different from your idea of Christmas as well, bonfires, chariot games etc. Also use your brain>roman pagan holiday>Germanic decorations???

I've recently felt drawn towards Orthodoxy and now have an interest in it coming from a Baptist background. I was wondering if any of you have stuff on Orthodoxy vs Catholicism vs Protestantism, arguments for and against their theology, etc. Additionally, I am of partial Bulgarian descent but there is no Bulgarian Orthodox church near me (there is one over an hour away across the Canadian border), closest is Russian Orthodox although there are Greek and Ukrainian churches in the area as well. How do I go about deciding which to attend vs the Catholic Church which is universally the same for example?
>>6227507>I was wondering if any of you have stuff on Orthodoxy vs Catholicism vs Protestantism, arguments for and against their theology, etc. There's loads online. What's important imo is to remember that we can have debates until our ears bleed but Orthodox stress the importance of living the faith - not just experiencing it through online media, books, debates etc.>>6227507>Additionally, I am of partial Bulgarian descent but there is no Bulgarian Orthodox church near me (there is one over an hour away across the Canadian border), closest is Russian Orthodox although there are Greek and Ukrainian churches in the area as well. How do I go about deciding which to attend vs the Catholic Church which is universally the same for example?Bulgarian, Russian, Ukraine, Antiochian, Greek, Romanian (and so on) is about territory, not ethnicity. For example I know a guy who's Arabic but instead of going to an Antiochian parish (which lies in Turkey but was previously Syrian) he attends a Greek parish. There's two big differences between the different patriachates: 1. Liturgical language - Irrelevant for you unless you already speak church slavonic, greek, arabic etc. Some churches in the US use english only though, I'd phone them and ask.2. Style - Irrelevant for inquirers unless you feel drawn to a specific style. For example Russian parishes are well-known for not sitting down (unless they're sick or old), meanwhile Greek parishes got seats or pews. I'd just try out both and check which style you prefer. What remains the same is the theology, arguments against other beliefs, the saints, the liturgical texts (just the language changes) and some minor preferences. In short: It's best to just attend liturgy (or other services!) in a few different parishes. Also call the priest ahead so you know when they have services since some parishes only have services every other week, once a month or multiple a week.

>>6227530Isn't it more than territory as some churches such as the Russian Orthodox are influenced by external elements such as politics? Or does that not apply to churches in America? >>6224566I am content
>>6227832>Isn't it more than territory as some churches such as the Russian Orthodox are influenced by external elements such as politics? Or does that not apply to churches in America? In church history we've seen multiple patriarchs cooperating with Politicians, bending the knee, being manipulated and so on regardless of jurisdiction. However, Orthodox don't believe in some manifest superiority of the patriarchs since the head of the church always was, is and will always be Christ. And the Holy Spirit guides us, that's why we had false councils and still condemned them later. Currently both the ecumenical patriarch and the patriarch of moscow seem to have some ties to the politics that surround them, but as laity I'd simply ignore this as it's a mud flinging contest like all modern politics. Either way: You will not be judged because you entered the 'wrong' orthodox church as all eastern orthodox jurisdictions are just one church. You can see Russians venerating St Paisios the Athonite and Greeks venerating St. John of Kronstadt. >And then for the ones that are in America, how come an American Orthodox Church was never formed given the size of the population? I'll be honest, I have no clue. Imagine for a second you're a doctor: You could focus on how the hospital you're applying for is structured and learn all about that or you could learn about medicine and how to properly heal people. I try to focus first on acquiring the right mindset, not how the organization behind the church is structured.>And do you have a personal recommendation?I've heard that in the US the antiochian parishes are very welcoming to inquirers and Metropolitan Saba seems like a very open and loving person. Ultimately, I'd try out different parishes around you and see which one you like the most, the Lord will give you the time and insight to find the right one for you. Also I can highly recommend praying about this. The Lord will guide you, if you let Him!
>>6228266Thanks for the replies, any advice for a first time attendant? Things you won’t find or see online? I am a little nervous about making a fool out of myself, maybe it’s just social anxiety
>nooooo stop making every religidiot look totally retarded no.
>>6228547Honestly just go and experience it. If you're unsure about when to cross yourself, find the deacon (if one is present) or some old grandma that's standing a lot and cross yourself whenever they do. Also make sure you arrive on time and that you don't anything the night before that'll make you feel bloated
>>6229027Why is being bloated a concern?
>>6229508In some parishes you can expect the Sunday to take 4 hours. Do you constantly want to feel unwell during service and talking to the community?
>>6229618I'm sorry, that sounded too mean. My point is that you should try to feel somewhat well when you go to church just so you can focus on praying instead of some pains.
>>6229743how is it people can talk for 45 seconds straight and say nothing of value?
>>6195081You have it, and gladly, brother. Fear not; Christ has overcome the world, the devil, and even your own sinful nature on the cross. Trust the fact that He has lived a life free from sin in your stead, and died the death that you deserve for your sins. Christ has died, Christ has risen, and ascended, and Christ has forgiven you all your sins. And that gladly. You are the treasure without price He sold everything He had for. You are the pearl of great price. He has done everything for you. For you.Trust His work for you. He loves you, and wants you to be with Him.He knows you, and He loves you.
>>6193666>666Fuck off, Satan
My lung collapsed and I was in the hostpital for 3 days. They reinflated it, removed the tube on the third day and said it seemed good. They sent me back home. Felt very little pain after, and yesterday, and most of today, but suddenly, I'm having implacable pain again. I felt a need to caugh when it first collapsed, which aside from a slight fluttery sense, I don't feel l don't feel so much right now, but I still have felt a bit of a need to. It's quit possible my lung collapsed again, and I honestly think it has..... Maybe it's for the best, spiritually, that I live with health problems..... I don't like that, but the most spiritually alive I felt in a long time was the day I left the hostpital. I had to think about things I don't normally think about, and I think I was being sifted like wheat by Satan, like Archbishop Averky said is the goal of Satan in that one quote. It's mournful if I have to live like this. But I'd rather do so and be saved than be a spiritual corpse, as I have been for a very long time. Of course, I don't know what God's plan is, and I pray I don't have to be physically messed up like that for my life. If you could, please pray for me.
>>6193666lol only one person acknowledging your thread got 666 trips shows that it's 98% one samefag posting
>>6231309I'm sorry anon but this is a load of BS. I'm in no doubt that you're in pain and that under those circumstances you found closer to God - this is not unusual. However, none - NONE - of the saints ever recommended us to not take care of our bodies. Many saints like St. Paisios were instructed by their spiritual fathers to go to the doctor and not embrace the end of the physical body, they considered this is like suicide. Also a lot of saints, in an attempt to imitate Christ, became healers and doctors like St. Luke of Simferopol, St. Panteleimon, Sts. Cosmas and Damian of Rome, St. Hermione and many more. They all followed Christ's example who repeatedly healed people of their physical ailments and reprimanded the apostles when they could not due to their lack of faith. I believe it's best for you to remember the situation you're in, how you feel like you can only rely on Christ and then attempt to get healed by a doctor, while in constant prayer like St. Paul who also accepted his cross but not after attempting to be healthy and painless. Sadly I have no webm about this but I had conversations about this with my spiritual father and I believe yours would agree with me. May God keep you, anon!
>>6193666Christ is Lord!
>>6231585What world do you live in where Christians argue that? I have never heard anyone say that
>>6232493I didn't say anything about neglecting care for ones body! My post was probably kind of blackpilled sounding though. I don't desire that I be physically unwell, I just know being so pulled me out of it I guess. I'm in the hospital now. Had to be flown out away from one near my home. I had no Orthodox churches near my home, and it happens the hospital I'm at has one right up the road I can see out my window. Thinking of stopping at it when I leave.
>>6233152You could call the priest and ask if he can visit you if you'll be in the hospital for a longer time. I hope you'll recover soon!
