Hello /wsr/, I'm interested in once again using my PSVita and I wonder what I might've missed on the system
My Vita is hacked (obviously) so homebrew is also a valid option (in fact that's how I completed some games for the first time). I'm also okay with mobileslop ports available on the system, as Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja and other /vmg/core titles are effectively unplayable on modern Android & iOS versions

Games I've played and liked:
>Lumines Electronic Symphony
was a game I ignored until I tried it, now love the entire series
>Killzone Mercenary
A rather good FPS. Finished the campaign once, dropped doing a second run after that
>Tearaway
A wonderful game I've (almost) platinum'd. Plan to make a third run on PS4 to see if Unfolded is as bad of a port as some people claim it to be.
>The Binding of saac
finished real platinum god, got a PC version and finished dead god. It's a great game.

Games I'd rather not play:
>japshit
pretty weird for a Vita guy but I dislike JRPGs, VNs, Monster Hunter-esque games and other "distinctly Japanese" genres. Would not mind completely weird shit and/or arcades, though
>Resistance: Burning Skies
this game sucks
>Black Ops Classified
this game sucks

Games I'm not sure about:
>Uncharted Golden Abyss
dropped it eons ago, don't remember why
>LBP Vita
there are custom servers available, but I'm not how great of an experience they might be
>>

oh yeah there's also a ton of other games I've played on the system, just can't recall them all atm
>>
>>1566678
>but I'm not how
not sure
>>

Garou Mark of the Wolves
>>
>>1566689
>Classic SNK Fighting
these are always great but I'm not that big fan of a genre
also lol no 2P mode on a Vita (unless it's possible to get one working using VitaTV plugin)
>>
the wipeout racing game was decent. sly cooper was also very good. I miss my vita sometimes specifically for lumens
>>
>>1566678
the vita has no games.
>>

>wipeout
I tried it once, but don't know why I stopped playing. It was great
>sly cooper
I feel weird about PS2 games on Vita, none of them are good for "portable" gaming (play sessions can't really be quick)
>I miss my vita sometimes specifically for lumens
yeah OST of ES is just insane
Arise can't compete

Try Earth Defence Force, see if it's your jam. It's pretty great, a lot of content, very over the top. Be ready for b-movie aestetics and b-game polish.

OP here, there are two different native versions of Cave Story available on the Vita: NXEngine-Evo and CSE2. Which one should I choose?
>>1566884
I remember seeing in "Vita must-play lists" from time to time but it always looked like japshit that's not interesting
Also there are too EDF games on Vita lol
may you elaborate about game's/games' content?
>>
>>1566885
>there are too EDF games on Vita lol
Didn't spend much time with 2 so far but afaik they're pretty comparable. 2 introduces third class you can play as, but that one a bit hard for a beginner, relying on jank vehicles and tricky air strikes.
>may you elaborate about game's/games' content?
It's a third person shooter. You play as an action hero one man army dude or a glass cannon girl with a jetpack and lazor weapons. You protect Earth from some alien invasion force that starts with giant insects and gradually introduces new threats. Shoot giant hordes of enemies and fight on a scale you won't see in many shooters - entire city blocks often become leveled after the battle and about a thousand enemies dead. Silly voice acting and overall crap movie atmosphere. About 60 missions per 5 difficulties per 2 classes so if you'll click with it you're set for a long time. There's fun coop but I don't know if you can find any partners nowadays.

>entire city blocks often become leveled after the battle and about a thousand enemies dead
how's the performance on the Vita? Is overclock necessary?
>>
>>1566888
Performance is fine-ish. It handles reasonable hordes of enemies and small explosions well. Big air strikes will at times chug fps to near zero for a moment but they don't happen often. Real big battles can get somewhat choppy and overclock will probably help somewhat but it's totally winnable on stock clock speeds.
>>
>>1566678
Most of the "good" games had better ports.
>>
>>1566678
ridge racer 2
>>
>>1567006
most of these ports are not portable
>switch
switch is not a portable system; it doesn't fit in my pocket

RIIIIIIIDGE RACER
