Recommendations on magical girl anime and manga? I've seen madoka and spec ops asuka, both of which I liked. I would though prefer either something more lighthearted, or something that is dark but isn't super somber/melancholy
Precure is your best best on entry level magical girl stuff. Most people would recommend Heartcatch Precure for its action stuff, and that might be easier to ease you into the franchise coming off of Madoka and Spec Ops. The one on the far left in your picture, Go Princess Precure is also pretty good. I've been going through Smile Precure recently which is a much more lighthearted show, and it's pretty enjoyable. If you want something really lighthearted to the point that there's rarely any actual fighting in it then the recent Wonderful Precure is a show I personally enjoyed a lot.I haven't seen Ojamajo Doremi (far right in your picture) but I've heard that it had a lot of somber/sad moments intertwined with the usual magic girl shenanigans.Princess Tutu is also a series I hear a lot of praise for that has darker stuff in it that I haven't seen, so consider that.
