I'm looking to host my own Drawpile server but don't want to give out my actual IP to strangers.
I'm thinking registering a domain name is my best solution but am not entirely sure how to set it all up. Or what services offer the best domain names for real dirt cheap.

Ask a trusted person to host the drawpile on their PC/server, then give it a domain name. That way, people looking up the DNS will find the trusted person's IP, not yours.

afraid.org offers free DNS, but I've never tried it. No-IP has a free plan as well, but you have to renew it for free every month by clicking on a link that they send to your email.
