Thought about asking /his/ for this, but that board is godforsaken. So I'm interested in any first hand accounts of people suffering from what we would now with modern psychiatry term PTSD, specifically I recall something about a medieval knight being plagued by "demons" and the other knights around him couldn't understand it because there was no current threat to them. I'm interested in how they termed this, dealt with it, and the popular conceptions around it at the time. But I'd be interested in any and all examples of PTSD from before 1900. Any and all depictions of modern mental health conditions before they were popularly understood, really.
