need some help with my glasses
I have very thick frameless glasses that are essentially two slabs of glass on my nose
it's so thick though that the peripheral edges act like mirrors to the point where I can see my phone scrolling in the edge of my vision when I scroll on my phone
already talked to the glasses store and they said nothing can be done unless you pick a different frame
reason Im posting this is to ask does anyone have a similar experience and is there a sort of DIY way to fix it? I was thinking of covering the sides with some soft tape but I'm not sure if that would damage the glasses or not.
I have only until this friday to return or change the frames
also the reason I got big frameless glasses is cuz I wanted more peripheral vision and didn't want to squint so much like i did with my previous narrow square glasses
thanks

The reflection is inherent because laws of nature unless you cover it.
You COULD use some black electrical tape for example, why would some tape damage glass, but it will be tough to not make it look like shit.
Basically you have to put something over the edges so instead of reflecting the light that gets there is absorbed instead.
A frame would do it. Could also try some black marker instead of tape. Try non permanent one so in case you can remove it again.

>why would some tape damage glass
Glasses aren't glass anymore, unknown adhesives shouldn't be applied to unknown plastics
Op, return or change your frames. They didn't work, accept reality

RETURN RETURN RETURN
these glasses aren't magically going to get more comfortable and you aren't magically going to get used to them
also taping them is the most batshit insane nonsense i've ever heard

i sympathize with you though, for the last decade i've only gotten used to wearing a hyper-specific type of frame, basically exactly what you describe but with smaller lenses, but not so small that your peripheral vision is compromized

i initially wanted huge ones like you, but i got a pair and the perspective was all fucked up, felt like i was looking out of a fishbowl
now i've got to the stage i can ONLY wear pic related sort of glasses
framed and it feels like half my vision is gone
any smaller and it also feels like half my vision is gone from losing peripheral
any larger and the perspective starts getting fucked up

get contact lenses.

my terrible eyesight caused similar issues to the ones you have and changing to contacts eliminated them. i can see so much better with contacts.

which contacts are good for astigmatism and breathability? last time I tried contacts was around 2014 ish when they were rather new. I remember my eyes almost being unusable after wearing them for a full day

You don't breathe through your eyes, anon.
>>
>>1570087
pretty sure there's something about contacts depriving your eyes of air and causing dry eyes or something
>>
Sharpie or black paint on the edges.

i have astigmatism and i'm wearing acuvue oasys. i wear them 16+ hours a day, and wear the same pair for months without much problem. you should talk to your eye doctor about your dry eyes.

There's no way to combat dry eyes with a modern lifestyle. You can just use drops.
Our eyes aren't made to look at screens two feet in front of us for hours on end.
