Recommend me an affordable non-nvidia replacement for a pic related GPU for a 13 yo PC. I want to upgrade my linux kernel from 6.8 to higher one without compromising scenery.Currently running Xia.

Nouveau is good enough if you're just using that thing for a basic display out. If not, something like an old AMD rx580 should work if you can find it cheaply (should cost around $30-40 USD). Its official linux drivers (along with most ~10 year old AMD cards) are open source and still actively maintained by the community.
