I'm very specific about "horror." I'd very much appreciate Taiwanese horror movie recommendations that,>Don't feature torture or fates worse than death>Don't feature ghosts, demons, or any antagonist that can't be fought on this physical planeI watched The Sadness (2021) and I fucking loathed it because of it's genuinely disturbing torture and fates worth than death; the infection is the second most disturbing "zombie" infection I've seen put to film after the Return of the Living Dead franchise. It really soured my opinion on Taiwanese horror, and film in general with it being my introduction to both, so I want to fix that. I don't want to judge the nation's filmography after one movie but I also do not want a repeat of that movie. All I've been able to find that seems to fit the bill is Abyssal Spider (2020) which I haven't watched yet.
>>1571350Are either of these good?>War of God>The Fairy and The DevilI am more well versed in HK than TW, so forgive me.
>>1571352>Are either of these good?I wont know until I try them, but if you think they meet the criteria then I will.Thank you.
>>1571355I like them, but I am a toku and kaijutard, so if you do not like classic Godzilla, Gamera et al. films or series like Ultraman, you won't like these. Not ultra scary, but a true classic Eastern creature feature.
>>1571356>but I am a toku and kaijutardI am too so all good.I assume this is where to watch War God,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbgwDkAdrH8But where would you recommend The Fairy and the Devil?
>>1571382Yeah.The Fairy and the Devil was probably from a mate's VCD/DVD collection that he screenshares on Discord (no, I am not trans) along with a lot of older anime and Kung Fu films. I saw it maybe 4 years ago. He collects a lot of stuff like that and there have been official and bootleg DVDs with subtitles, bootlegs run about $15. (My source for this quote is https://dvdlady.com/dvd/the-fairy-and-the-devil-1982-with-english-subtitles-on-dvd/).Dailymotion has raws and so does YouTube, you could install a live caption audio recognition pack on Chrome (you do not need any additional extensions for Chrome) and the subtitles will be autogenerated. Google translate has gotten better over the years, so I would take it.
