I have a problem with stinking clothes.Been living on my own for a while, got this family size washing machine that I run only when I have enough dirty clothes for a full load. With this heat and the amount of sweating I do you can already see how this is a bad idea and it has bitten me in the ass big fucking time, now even after I wash them they still REEK, it's disgusting.How do I unfuck this? Do I have to use a different washing machine program, maybe with a higher temperature? Longer cycles? Will that do anything? I don't wanna run the risk of fucking things up even further so I could really use some pointers if you got any to spare

>>1571439I wash all my clothing in cold water, OP, and it does not smell. How? I do a prewash cycle with Borax or Lysol Laundry Sanitizer. Do not add soap to the prewash cycle, it interferes with the sanitization. You can also pretreat smelly clothes with white vinegar.

Don't let your clothes sit for a week or two.Don't use more washing powder, use a bit less than recommended for a while. If you use too much it doesn't get rinsed out and not only does it get trapped in your clothes where bacteria like eating it as much as your sweat and grime, but it can get also trapped in the machine so you've got inbuilt machine stink when they eat it there. It can be mould including mildew as well as bacteria so if you smell that in your machine or clothes there's a likely culprit.It costs more but think about doing a hot wash. Hot water will help dissolve the laundry powder better as well as grime from your clothes.Overloading the machine makes the water not move around so well, also leading to bits getting trapped in the machine.Leave your machine open after the wash to let water evaporate, especially on a front loader.Don't let your clothes sit in the machine before or after. Wet clothes breed mould and bacteria.If you think it needs it, do an empty hot wash with the highest water level using white vinegar or a store bought washing machine cleaner and like another anon said learn how to wash your washing machine.

OP here with some good news, I did end up using white vinegar as some of you suggested.Looked up some vids too and what I did was:- wash with only 1 and a half cups of white vinegar poured directly inside the washing machine basket thing- make sure there's ample space for the clothes to move around- do NOT use softener because apparently it causes bad smells and I believe it because I've used it for all my cycles until now- use a 1 hour program with 60 degrees celsius- after the program is finished, run it again this time WITH detergent BUT only a spoonful of it because apparently too much detergent is also cause for bad smells; I know, I was surprised to learn this too, something to do with the stuff that's in the detergent that is appealing to bacteria. I also used one of those detergents that have disinfectant in them- when it's done, put them to dry making sure there's no moisture left, to do this either use a dryer on a high setting or put them out under the sun, with this heat you might as well.I can attest my clothes don't smell like shit anymore, in fact they even smell nice up close.That is all, thanks to everyone who contributed, cheers
