What are some anime with a plot twist that complete changes the context and the scale of the whole plot?
The best example in my mind is SnK: first part of the story has the presumably last stronghold of humanity fighting against a non-human threat, but after they reach the basement, the veil is lifted and the truth is revealed.
Is there anything similar out there? I guess TTGL kinda qualifies too but it's not much of a mystery anime, I'm looking for some drama/mystery rather than pure action.

Ranking of Kings really surprised me.
It starts with a very generic premise like european fairytales. The adventuring prince, the dying parent, the evil stepmother, the conniving vizier.
But then almost every episode ends with a twist that makes you rethink the actions of each character in previous episodes.
It helps that the animation is amazing.
