Any good recent-ish animes that aren't for manchildren?

what kinds of non-manchildren animes have you liked in the past, anon?
>>

I've liked adaptations of Fukumoto works (Kaiji, Tonegawa, Akagi). Doesn't need to be Fukumoto-based animes but something in that vein.

I've seen Kaiji too, pretty good one

GTO, Welcome to the NHK. I've got a couple more in mind that are really good, but I don't know what you define 'for manchildren' as. Could you expand please so I can give you more accurate recommendations?

Something I can watch without feeling internal embarrassment. I'm too old for shonenshit, moe and young girls doing cute things. So I don't know, seinen stuff, but some jovial stuff is alright too as long as it doesn't go crazy

Parasyte: The Maxim, Death Note (You've probably already seen this one, but just recommending it in case you haven't), FLCL (This is a Gainax production, and it's a pretty wacky one but overall a great coming of age story), Akira, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Getter Robo Armageddon (I know it's an older one but it's up their as one of THE animes I recommend to people, if you like it you should watch the other Getter OVAs). Some of these have fantasy elements, and some are even downright bizarre. I tried to keep it shonen free and fairly tame, but I am aware that some of these animes may not fit your preferences. I recommended all of these because I think they fit your requirements enough to mention them, and I think all of these are fuckin great animes, but you probably want to research them before watching them

I've watched (or read) most of those. That's why I asked for something more "recent-ish" since I haven't kept up with anime in the last 10-15 years or so, but I'll note the ones I haven't consumed (Parasyte, which I knew of but isn't my type as I'm not into horror, and Getter Robo Armaggedon)

Ah, sorry I couldn't be of much help to you then. The ones you mentioned are very good ones, so you could at least check those out

The last one I watched was Lord of the Mysteries, although it is more of a book

I actually quite liked JJK, it got recommended to me by some zoomer 5 years younger than me when I joined the military

I made this thread: >>1571232. Everything that I mention in the OP should be to your liking, also drawing OVAs released up to maybe 1996 at random will suit your needs well. While not a serious anime Mad Bull 34 might also be too your liking.

Also, Shin Chan is a worthwhile mention, and no, I am not trolling. It, Ebichu and Ike! Ina-chuu Takkyuu-bu are pretty dank.

Last thing is that if you do not mind anime that are "meant for children", but not childish (in the sense of Naruto being a childish series, for example), then most WMT, WMT-likes and other Nippon Animation titles (such as Tsurikichi Sanpei) should fit the bill too.
