To clear up a fundamental misconception:>a spirit is an impulse, drive, or predilection toward a set of behaviors and relations>a spirit is nonlocal, globally distributed, acting everywhere on everyone wherever resonance matches>an entity/demon/ghost is an immaterial personality with a distinct developed agency>an entity is a local phenomenon, with a shape and size and form, acting in a specific place and manifesting externally to usWhenever you communicate with “something” or see “something,” that’s an entity. An entity can be driven by any number of spirits, just like humans. An entity possessed by a spirit of malice will act maliciously, but it’s wrong to conflate the entity with the malice itself. The malice is the impersonal impulse behind the behaviors. A living person also possessed by malice will also act maliciously. When we talk about spiritual warfare in a Christian context, that’s a battle against the underlying impulses that drive us toward bad behavior. It often has little to do with any entities. When it does involve an entity, the entity is simply a carrier for the spiritual virus, an intermediary of sorts.
So if I understand you correctly, the spirit of perscriptivist language is driving this thread? How do we stop ghosts from propagating their misconceptions?
>>42431713>the spirit of perscriptivist language is driving this threadYes exactly, lol. Exorcism is for driving out entities, but to drive out spirits you need a change of heart and mind. So something like alcoholism is a spirit, to get rid of it you need first to want to, then to force a change of habit. But alcoholism isn’t an entity, it won’t manifest in your bedroom or talk through an ouija board or flicker the lights.
