Why were leftists so excited about wikileaks, but rightists wanted to ignore it?

For months people were digging through the leaks, they literally found the emails that started pizzagate, which lit a fire under everyone's asses. Jannies here deleted threads on sight, a massive subreddit was gaining fast traction until it was deleted along with all the wikileak emails and associated files, etc.... It woke a lot of people up but it was forcibly shut down as well.
