Why are dogs and other canines often associated with death? There's the Hellenic Cerberus, the germanic Garm and grims, the egyptian Anubis, and of course the scared dogs of Persia.
>>
Theyre always gatekeepers or guides
Pretty much what dogs do irl
>>

I get that, but why always death in particular?
>>
>>42445121
I don't get the question
They're associated with real life things too why wouldn't they be associated with death
Like is some swans or monkeys supposed to be gatekeeping or what
>>

Angels, dragons, gargoyles, and plain old men are often depicted as guides and guardians. But dogs are the ones that are always associated with guarding deathly matters.

Dogs can and will scavenge dead bodies. Same with crows.

If you look into deep Egyptian mythology along with the pyramids, you’ll get the answer. The star Sirius is in the constellation Canis Major. Sirius is also known as the Dog Star. Sirius is a binary star system made up of stars Sirius A and Sirius B. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Sirius Black (Sirius B) can transform into a dog/wolf.

Anubis is an Egyptian God that is the guide to the Underworld, good luck
>>

In Ancient Egypt, Sirius disappeared from the night sky for 70 days every year. The Egyptians believed this period represented a closed portal to the underworld, during which the dead could not cross over. The star's return in the morning sky was linked to resurrection and the god of the dead, Osiris

Pike noted that the Blazing Star represents Sirius, which anciently personified Anubis—the jackal/dog-headed Egyptian god of the underworld. In this context, Sirius represents the cosmic guardian that guides the candidate's soul safely through spiritual darkness.

Esoteric Masonry views the physical sun as the source of light for the material world, but positions Sirius as the "Sun behind the Sun". It represents the ultimate source of spiritual light, divine wisdom, and the true home where an initiate's soul ascends after passing "beyond the veil" of mortal death.
>>
Pluto (god of the underworld) is also associated with dogs.

The Sirius symbolism is heavy in movies today. Often tied in with Saturnian themes and time travel stuff too, as well as 9/11 predictive programming.

Sirius was also believed in some circles to be blue.

Pay attention to the number of blue dogs in media and advertisements, specifically in the role of teachers/guides.

Dogs are some of our closest companions. They guide us in our darkest hour and times of need. I guess this why we have so many cultures have death dogs. They were there for us in life, so surely they would be there for us in death. That and they also eat our corpses.

>Historical records from the Alexandrian astronomer Claudius Ptolemy (around the year 150 AD) suggest that Sirius was a red star in the past (it is very hot and white today). There is no accepted explanation of how this could have happened.
>>
>>42445101
They have a habit of going around munching on corpses and whatever other refuse they find, which was pretty noticeable and hard to prevent in the ancient world. They're basically the vultures of mammalia.
>>
Dan Davis has a video on the ancient origins of the hound, Koryos and to an extent the Ulfhednar connection between them all to add to this. It may also go back to as another bit of research, the cave dwelling era where supposedly we had to fend off packs of dire / cave hyenas.
The Underworld is in such a literal term often associated with the underground, caves and caverns, such as the Orphic tradition. Which wolves, dogs from them, and other canines like hyena or coyote also go for.
Good stuff on Sirius, don't forget cannabis = cannis + bi [2].

Hekate also has dogs as companions. Hekate is the cosmic matrix, the gateway that souls pass through as they descend into the sublunar world. She is also more famously known to be the guard of the gateway to underworld where she is the psychopomp that guides souls through the world of the dead. Dogs are known for being guard dogs, and basically the idea the is that they guard liminal barriers, hence the whole hellhound motif

Also in hindu and mesoamerican culture black dogs accompany the soul on its travel to the other world
>>
>Genetic and archaeological data shows that dogs were domesticated in Siberia approximately 23,000 years ago during the Last Glacial Maximum. When Paleolithic humans crossed the Bering Land Bridge into North America, they brought these domesticated dogs with them. This shared migration likely explains why the "Dog Star" or "Wolf Star" motif is so deeply rooted across both northern Eurasia and North America

>Throughout Siberia and North America, a nearly universal Paleolithic myth exists: when a person dies, their soul travels along the Milky Way to the land of the dead. Along this path, they must cross a bridge guarded by a fierce dog or wolf. Because Sirius sits right next to the Milky Way, it frequently served as the cosmic anchor for this guardian animal

It's definitely strange. Other contemporary poets of the time, like Marcus Manillus, and Avienius both describe Sirius as blue. Or the Chinese describe it as white.

It could be either describing it symbolically, or maybe even the hue from the flicker it has.

Either way, the star ushers in the "Dog days".
>>

blue is often used to depict black or gray
the hindu gods are described as ashen colored but depicted blue
they did the same thing in old comic books

>the hindu gods are described as ashen colored but depicted blue
Not true. Only Shiva is grey. Krishna and Kaali are black, though sometimes depicted as very dark blue. Vishnu is the color of the sky.

I've never seen this show but apparently it's the big thing now and it makes me feel like we live in a simulation now. It's nothing like the old cartoons they used to show on television. Whenever I get a glimpse of them all the new cartoons feel like something made by an AI or as the background for some movie.

This proves NASA spaceball lore is fake, LOL. The cosmos are much different from what they tell us, and more local too.

i really have no idea. it makes zero sense. probably someone invented it at some point and the idea spread from there somehow. but truly it is inexplicable
