I don’t have dreams or nightmares anymore mainly because the world itself is already fucked up. Is there a way to make myself have dreams again that are vivid and don’t last only 5 seconds?

Why is that a common question? No, I do not smoke weed

Actually try telling yourself before you sleep that you will dream and that you will remember it.

This actually works most of the time for me.

assuming your sleep quality isn't so terrible you never reach the REM phase in a night, you dream multiple times every night, like everyone else. the problem is remembering them after you wake up.
the brain absolutely wants to delete dream memories every time we wake up. and sadly nightmares make a stronger impression or wake us up so they're easier to remember.
sadly I don't have more advice to give than: try to improve your sleep quality (I know, it might be impossible due to fucked up waking life, stress, etc) and try writing down the dreams you remember every time you wake up. some people even keep pen and paper near the bed so they can write dreams down at any time as soon as they wake up. showing your brain that remembering dreams is important to your waking life might improve general recall.

Exercise and eat fish.

I pray to Jesus for dreams. It works. Just say dear Jesus please let me have sleep and dreams. And if you like lucid dreams pray for that.

start writing down your dreams, even if it is only one most certainly wrong fact you remember. soon you will be remembering a lot. if you stop writing them down, they will be short again.

It’s a great defence if you’re being targeted in your dreams
YES, they can enter your dreams

Stay awake as long as you can, literally for days. Be doing something. Stay active with other people.
Sleep as little as possible and repeat.
Work on your memory. Develop the ability to remember long detailed sequences of events.

Pray to Jesus for dreams. Just say dear Jesus I’d like to have dreams and sleep, please and thank you. He will help. It works. Might take time.

Why does every weed smoker automatically assume everyone else smokes weed? I'm not OP, but I've gotten this same response like a thousand times before asking why I suffer from poor recall. Caffeine is more ubiquitous in our culture but no one seems to mention that as a potential block.

I did and the fucking dreams are so vivid they're starting to piss me off. My dreams mostly come in the early mornings and are so lifelike that they raise my blood pressure sometimes. I think I'm going to start smoking again.
