Has anybody heard of the Ollies store in the Northeast? There were no traces of this chain until like a year ago and 3 of them popped up in my areaI cant describe why but it feels like its some sort of front for something illegal, like it genuinely feels like a place that shouldnt be real or existThe entire store is like the image btw this guys face is plastered almost everywhere inside
>>42455500Digits so ill bite. Ollies has been around forever and your b8 sucks m8
>>42455500they've been around since the 80s but they only pop up in dying shitholes. I'm sorry for your town, anon.
>>42456113Wait there’s stores that are worse and more depressing than your typical dollar type stores?
>>42456334Looking at OP's pic, it doesn't look that bad. I've seen worse from Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Family Dollar.
I think there is a new one in my area, only started to see ads for it like a year ago or so.Not related to this store, but still shady, I remember a few years ago were where coming home after dark for a reason forgot. Near one of the bridges I saw a store called 'Tourist Info'. Had neon lights and stuff. Was one of the most obviously suspicious places I have seen in my area. It disappeared within the month I think.
Ollie's rocks. Had one in my area my whole life. Used to go there after class to get cheap candy.
>>42456641>migga biscuit faggotFaggot shill thread detected
Ollie's is fine, Hobby Lobby was the one smuggling sumerian tablets I think, maybe Party City
>>42456583Ollie's is an actual bargain / overstock store, nothing like those others. You find some real gems in there, you also find overstock slop they got for basically free that literally nobody could ever possibly want, plus I've seen things ripped open by mice or pallets of stuff where some stuff busted open so it's all sticky and gross and stuff.Basically just stuff for sale that's overstock / out of date got for a really cheap price, an actual bargain store VS the rest of them which really are not and never were bargain stores but just shitty goods stores.
>>42456899Sounds cool!
>>42455500very odd indeed, op. i just had a conversation with a buddy tonight about this store chain in particular. the context was about knockoff DVDs that were probably 50¢ for 5. my dad (at the time was in his 70s) was poking around trying to find gems like avatar and some other bullshit from the 80s/90s era, but never found anything. there were hundreds of DVDs to choose from if you wanted to spend 50¢ for a week's night of garbage films.>t. northeasterner for 25 yearsthere were 2 of these stores within an hour's drive from my house since at least 2015. and i saw one at least 8 years ago in north carolina while driving down the highway.there is nothing /x/ about this store, op, just simply something you recently noticed and brought attention to it. i'd say if there was anything /x/ about ollie's, it's that fucking weird ilf dude picture all over the place. i went there once, and it was overwhelming mascot shit and made me feel genuinely uncomfortable. i would almost say i'd welcome a furry mascot over this shit any day of the week.also, the store advertises it's "dirt cheap" and the "mess" is no joke.
>>42455500> There were no traces of this chain until like a year ago lol i grew up going to Ollies, it’s way weirder how many people havent ever heard of it, even in my home town
There's one within walking distance of me, it's a shithole and I never shop there. Just useless as seen on tv shit piled up at the entrance
>>42455500The first time i went to an Ollies was in 2019.
I know Ollies. It's like Primark or Tiger (even though it closed here in the US in 2020), except it sells cheaper stuff.I hate these places and I feel sorry for the people who work there.Imagine being a college student, stressed about exams, and having to put up with an HR person saying, "I understand you have to study for exams, Anon, but we have to do a Zoom call this afternoon to discuss where to put the Chinese-made vibrators."Two years ago, my girlfriend and I were returning from a trip to NC and stopped at one of these stores.Inside, you'll find crap like trashy movie DVDs and off-brand housewares.
>>42455500Killroy imagery draws boomers.
I was in one last weekend and something must have happened to a sewage line or something because the place smelled like straight diarrhea
>>42458504as opposed to gay diarrhea?the one i went to (11 years ago) gassed the customers with bleach smell all over the place. it still gives me nightmares that i ever shopped there. it was late at night, only one light in the parking lot, and it was buzzing and flickering, kind of spoopy for a horror movie stage. i bet the bleach smell was covering up a diarrhea SAW movie backroom.
>>42458568It didn't smell "like shit" it was actually a human waste smell, absolutely revolting. I didn't even buy anything because it was that bad.
>>42458504Shitty place. The one I visited smelled of bleach.
>>42458659There's another one in my area. I will check that one out and post results.
>>42455500ollies has been around at least 10 years as a big lots competitor, its just now getting up in the northeast but its been through the middle east and the south
>>42458715Good luck, I refuse to go back there
>>42458758Big Lots has been shutting down stores left and right the past few years.>>42459371Thanks, there were some gardening tools priced obscenly low, that's my motivation to try the other spot.
>>42458758>middle eastYeah they just opened one up in Dubai.
>>42459383>Thanks, there were some gardening tools priced obscenly low, that's my motivation to try the other spot.Scam ofc
Nigga, this store's been around for a long while in the NE
>>42459409A hunk of metal attached to a wooden handle is a scam?
>>42455500>outlet store that's been around for decades>OMGWTFBBQ IS THIS PARANORMAL?!?!?!!Does this board even have moderation?
>>42455500Ollie looks like Albert Einstein>founded in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, in 1982 by Morton Bernstein, Mark Butler, Harry Coverman, and Oliver "Ollie" Rosenbergand there it is
>>42459501*Bernstain
>>42459429it's now an /x/ thread because >>42458568is a really nice idea for the setting of a cheap horror movie or book. could you imagine a dark story starting with shopping at one of these trash stores and everything goes wrong (insert monsters or something) and this ought to be enough to scare the shit out of rich people.>>42459662*Berenshitstain
>>42455500Fun Fact: the signs in Ollie’s were inspired by Building 19, and Ollie’s later bought a few of the Building 19 locations when they went out of business.
>>42459423If the quality is shit ofc
>>42455500How is this remotely /x/-related?
It's a store that sells surplus from supermarkets. There's one in Mechanicsburg that my Mom would take me to whenever she'd drag me along on shopping trips. They're creepy as shit, concrete floors, Ollies adverts lining the walls. There used to be a little phone number written on the wall under the sink in the men's bathroom that never got painted over. I wonder if it's still there.
