I don’t know much about the lore or even the entities of The Backrooms, but this movie was genuinely unnerving. It gave me the same feeling I had while watching The Shining. It is a world that feels comforting, yet also dangerous.

Rating: 9/10
Complaints: A lot of things needed to be explained. Like wtf was up with Mary’s mother and wtf happened to her family? If there is a sequel then it better explain what that was about.

Hey op im not sure that goes in this board but besides that a friend and his gf invited me to watch this sunday, had my doubts but now got some hopes up to see it

Also its funny how the backrooms stuff went from liminal images to a SCP foundation clusterfuck that nobody really understands
It also was born out of nothing, the original post implied a monster but the community made up entire ecosystems and survivor groups

I just got back from seeing it. genuinely great horror movie, Kane Parsons has a lot of talent, I hope becoming famous doesn't ruin him.

I actually think some things being left unexplained is part of what makes good horror. when you show or explain too much it takes away the feeling that makes something really scary. I kind of think that's part of why a lot of the time creepypastas / folk legends on the internet are often scarier than Hollywood movies, there has to be a sense of mystery about it.
I think this succeeded where previous creepypasta movie adaptations failed because the creators understood and respected the idea and feeling of the original concept.

but anyway congrats to Kane and congrats to /x/ and that anon who wrote that original post years ago. I keep thinking how funny it is how much some random picture of a store and a good idea blew up into this whole phenomenon and now I just sat in a theater full of normalfags watching a movie about it. I guess a lot of great art happens that way though.

They wanted to make the movie about Async but felt it wouldn’t make much sense. That’s why Async was just randomly thrown in there at the end because it could possibly be used as the plot of the sequel.

(I did some research after watching the movie. I hope this doesn’t spoil anything for people reading this post.)
