Why do 1.4 billion catholics believe that we have an immortal soul which floats off to "heaven" after we die?The Bible in the book of Genesis 2:7 teaches that we *are* *living* souls.Then in the book of Daniel 12:2 and 12:13 it explains that after we die we are in a state of "sleep" until we may or may not be resurrected at the coming of the new age.So where do Catholics get their beliefs from? My wife who is a catholic claims that is how she was taught (soul leaving the body after death, floating to heaven) in catechism, but I find that hard to believe.
