Is it possible to reconcile magick with a materialist, naturalist worldview?

I don't believe in the supernatural. However, it seems like a lot of magick is really about manipulating people's perceptions, including one's own. A materialist worldview precludes the supernatural, but most of our reality, as we experience it, is really just a story we tell ourselves about what we experience. It seems like chaos magick, and the esoteric practices of Zen Buddhism, Taoism, and Dyonesian/Hedonistic cults should be completely compatible with this outlook, because even if we exclude supernatural claims, they can still shape people's perceptions, and if we can control our own perceptions, we can shape our actions and destinies.

On a high-end level of psychology, yes. If you can agree that reality is not a material phenomena but a creation of the consciousness.

“Naturalist” and “materialist” aren’t the same thing. Sure we can have a naturalist model of magic, but no it cannot be little balls bouncing off other little balls. What you’re looking for is a global field that can interact with matter, can store complex patterns, and can store and discharge energy. Best place to start looking for that field is scalar electrodynamics—pre-Heaviside, quaternion form Maxwellian electrodynamics.

Its sound of lame.
You either become a shitty magician, or a shitty materialist.
Its OK to accept there's stuff out there that you can't touch or see.
There's even a lot of paranormal researchers who documented these phenomena - such as Rupert Sheldrake (check his youtube.)
If you really want to know though, you will have to dive in and practice yourself - and maybe the amount of time it will take isn't worth it to you to - for some people it becomes everything.

Yeah, I won't say it out loud, but the only modern doctrine that has translated itself directly into reality is one that contains "materialism" in its name
