Question for anonsHow do you know person from yesterday and you are the same? or person in few minutes is you
During the daytime it's easy- you have continuity of experience. The real question is how do you know it's the same simulation when you wake up after sleeping?

>>42490698If that's the case, you can reason that the you now isn't the same you from birth, far from it.If that's the case, why worry? Your self of identity is what you make of it.
The past and present are mental constructs of the brain, and so are (You). We get the idea that the past and present exist because we mentally construct the passage of time as it happens. But we are just local observers. We observe locally.(You) have never once experienced the past or the future. Memories are recalled in the present, and the future is contemplated in the present. The present is a mental construct of your brain as well but at least it’s one that you actually experience. The present is the only thing we can reliably say exists in some form (cogito ergo sum). Therefore, if you think the past and future exist, or you take the concept of the passage of time like it’s somehow obvious it works a certain way, it’s actually not obvious. If your conception of (You) is based on faulty principles (the “past” and “future” being “real” despite you never directly experiencing them, as every memory and prophecy is conceived of in the present moment) you are doing it wrong. You’re like a nigger cattle who doesn’t even understand algebra. You’re the idiot reacting to shadows in the cave allegory. Stupid nigger cattle.
>>42490698LolI've wondered (worried) about this since my teens. I do think it's possible to fully know the answer, but it would require mastery of awareness of your waking state plus considerable experience and mastery of the larger reality experience in which your everyday reality resides. Top level monks, etc.
>>42490698i am not>>42490920continuity of experience is not continuity of identity
>>42490698They're both lame days
>>42490920Are you still pissed off about the same things as you from yesterday were and do you share the same problems? There you go, you're you enough.
>>42490698This is what I call a yaw, which is anything that is not the current ‘you’ or itself, but more specifically, is another version of you and/or itself.E.g.: Your past and future selves are yaws of yourself, and you are the yaw to them. A clone of yourself would be your yaw, and you would be its yaw. Theseus’ Ship is a yaw of itself, and every version is its own individual yaw.

>>42490698it just makes more sense that that would be the case. i can't prove it, but it's not falsifiable and therefore imo not worth pondering too deeply.
>>42490698Ship of Theseus.Law of Identity is only applicable to conceptual discussions, not to real things. For real things, we use Ship of Theseus as model. And law of Karma, chain causality.
>>42495357The paradox of the Ship of Theseus shows that identity is not matter, not that identity does not exist.
>>42495482Ship of Theseus doesnt say identity doesnt exist, its just different from the law of identity we use for mathematical reasoning.4 quarters is same as 1 paper dollar bill as xyz bit coin as 100 pennies, etc. Its a conventional thing.
